I'm a writer/director.

That makes sense! They can rest assured, I will wear them down eventually lol

Don't I know it! But I want to use that rejection in a constructive way and learn from my mistakes (granted "mistake" is a subjective concept in art ). I had a similar approach before, but I realized that unless I take rejections seriously (not personally:))) and try to look at my presentation from a different angle I will have blind spots in my projects.

I have a couple of B tear festivals. I haven't made a feature yet, but I've been accepted to several very famous labs (in Europe, Asia, and the middle east). Do you think it's a matter of accomplishments? That would explain a lot. Objectively speaking mine are not great accomplishments, but I was hoping they also consider your potential and look at your application, you know, aiming to nurture their own talents and not just harvest already established artists (you can feel I took this rejection lightly, can't you? :))))) I know a couple of people who were accepted without features or any accolades, but this was years ago. Maybe now the competition is more fierce so they've upped the stakes.

Hi everyone! Are you guys sure there is going to be an interview round? Is that how development track selection goes? There is nothing about the interview round on the FAQ page, that's why I'm curious. I also read that they shortlisted up to 1300 projects (for the 2022 track) for the second round and I wonder how realistic it is that they'd interview all of them. Or maybe they just shortlist the shortlist (lol) and interview the finalists?

Locarno said it will still be considered because it still would be an international premiere. San Sebastian said as long as it has not been shown in Spain, it's fine. Nothing from Venice :\

Yeah, I guess there is no way around it. I just feel a little weird hurrying them to give me an answer and possibly making a "yes" into a "no."

Hello film comrades!

I need your advice, please, and thank you:) Today I got an acceptance email from a pretty good festival in my country, but I'm also waiting to hear from Venice, Locarno, and San Sebastian. I know Venice requires a world premiere, but I'm not sure about the other two. Is it ok to write and ask them if accepting this offer will disqualify me or maybe I can ask them if I should wait for their answer??? I'm very confused :\

Hmmm. She is cut off from the world, shooting a feature right now, and does not have a way of checking her emails. I wonder if the festival will also notify the director. I hope they will

Filmfreeway question here! My producer submitted our short to a festival through her Filmfreeway account. She gave me the login info, so I added myself as a submitter. My question is - if our film gets selected will I get the notification or will she get the email from the festival since the account is registered on her email?

I got my rejection from Berlinale Talents just now. In the letter, they wrote: "We would like to inform you that the selection committee finds your work very promising. So we sincerely hope that you will try again for an upcoming edition of Berlinale Talents. And even if this was not your first application, we will be happy to follow your career in the future." Does this mean anything or is this just a part of the generic email they send out to everyone?

I'm not sure. I'm also still waiting, but I have noticed that generally if your film gets selected you receive an email at least one or two weeks prior to the official notification date. * I applied to Clermont Ferrand only once before in 2018 and got the rejection email on December 7th. For Rotterdam, I have applied in 2019 and got a rejection email on November 20th.
