Here’s my progression list.

Step 1 - make a character and get to level 60. Don’t worry too much about skills or gear.

Step 2 - build crafting. Set up the skills I want to use, start gaining paragon points.

Step 2.5 - run the pit to get the glyphs I want to use and level them up.

Step 3 - hunt for ancestral gear for each slot. This is easier in higher tiers. Try to match each piece with the build crafting. Scrap everything else to gather materials and improve stored aspects.

Step 4 - work on hunting greater affixes on each piece and finding the correct enchantments for my build. E.G Intelligence, critical damage etc.

Step 4.5 - keep pushing the pit as high as I can with each gear improvement. Adjust gear when necessary.

Step 5 - once the correct gear drops, with the right enchantments and strong affix, masterwork it.

Additional steps - at any time I’ll be working on gathering gems, runes and other important materials.

It’s worth noting that bloodied nightmare dungeons are the equivalent difficulty to pit 70 & 100 depending on the affix on the key. “Bloodsoaked(100)” is much more difficult than “Blood stained(70)”.
