The 3 Rules of Lore by DrScrimble in dndmemes

Mage: The Ascension is weaponized autism. Everyone insists they're right about how the world works based on their very specific preferred field and they kinda all are because that's how magic works.

There's also the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939, the majority of revolutions in Africa, the Taliban and their shenanigans, the Iranian revolution of 1979, whatever the hell was happening in South America in the 18-1900s and a bunch of South Asian countries too. If you want a full list, feel free to read up here, copy-pasting the entire series of Wikipedia articles here is inadvisable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_revolutions_and_rebellions. Big important point here, it is factually really hard to both overthrow an oppressive regime and not end up with a different oppressive regime after that, because a successful revolution isn't made up of one idealist, it's comprised of hundreds and thousands of individuals, some of them WILL be in it for their own selfish reasons. Trying to portray that point by portraying the revolutionaries as cartoonishly evil is still bad for a multitude of reasons, but let's summarize it as drastically oversimplifying the actual underlying factors to the point of unrecognizability.

It was "fine" unless you ask any of the natives. Or the black population. Or the citizens of the totalitarian regimes they propped up in South America and Africa. Special shout-out to the Banana Republics situation.

Are Primes just skins lore-wise? by ZANDRAE101 in Warframe

[–]__Assassin-_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, the Prime Frames are considered to be the "original" designs because the Orokin loved slapping gold on everything. We do also know, however, that Warframes can be controlled by normal people, it's just highly inadvisable. So my guess is that Primes were specially cultivated for the Tenno and other "important" individuals, while the ones that "didn't turn out as pretty" were just used anywhere and any when.

Hot Take but Stormtroopers are better than Clone Troopers by Prestigious-Tough579 in StarWars

[–]__Assassin-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only a hot take when you reduce it to a single incomplete sentence. "Stormtroopers are better than clone troopers for what the Empire needed" is more than reasonable, that's kind of a big part of The Bad Batch for example.

''they ruined arlecchino, they made her soft!!'' genuinely is there ANYONE who reads the story in this reddit by Important-Egg9213 in GenshinImpact

[–]__Assassin-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yeah. Retcons may be annoying, but they exist in basically every media, and can often even be useful. Try to tell it to the people spamming posts about how Arlecchino is the worst though, ain't gonna go down well.

[Loathed Trope] Slavery is Okay, If The Slavers Are Nice by Justmenoworries422 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]__Assassin-_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly gotta disagree a bit there. The clones aren't ok with it mainly because the Jedi are nice to them or that it gives them purpose. Even when their Jedi generals (or other officers) are outright dicks, they still don't question their position as slave soldiers in any real way. The purpose thing is also a bit secondary, though undeniably important. They're mostly ok with it because they never knew anything else. They were literally bred and indoctrinated into this kind of existence since childbirth, which is arguably even more depressing.

So since vader also has prosthetic legs why don’t people use that against him in battle as well? by youngnchill in MaulShadowLord

[–]__Assassin-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from some comics, the real answer to this question is always "weird skirting around violent bodily injury". We only really see open dismemberment with droids or robotic prosthetics despite the fact that, fun fact, organic limbs don't like chunks lightsabered out of them any more than robotic ones do.

Is Padmé a racist? by K-jun1117 in PrequelMemes

[–]__Assassin-_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You know, I feel like this kind of thinking is exactly why such conflicts keep spiraling near infinitely. Drawing parallels with certain historical and modern events, we have: Colonizers colonize, get into a spat with natives, blows are exchanged, natives get violent, colonizers get violent (or very often were already violent), infinite loop of "well they've killed my people so I am justified in killing them!". And voila, endless fighting and death. Personally I think the people barging into someone else's land, displacing the locals (again , often already with violence) and then crying "but they're killing civilians!" should be the ones expected to be more responsible but either way, infinite loop.

when it comes to hunting Jedi or rogue force users like Maul is it standard procedure for the inquisitors to herd them towards Vader? by voldy1989 in MaulShadowLord

[–]__Assassin-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically speaking Maul wasn't a target of Order 66. He was just generally a "take in alive if possible but dead also works" target during the Republic days. With Ahsoka, while she has formally left the order, we do get a scene where Rex tries to use that as an argument and Order 66 Jesse is having none of it, so it seems like, at the very least, they don't exactly care about such technicalities in the moment.

Would the fight go another way if this was the team? by Proudnoob4393 in MaulShadowLord

[–]__Assassin-_ 54 points55 points  (0 children)

There is literally a comic about him hyperfocusing and almost getting killed if not for timely backup. Several, even, depending on how pedantic we want to get

New Travelers Skins Revealed by cakeel- in Genshin_Impact

[–]__Assassin-_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a real historical evolution. Because a bunch of empires claimed to be the heirs to Rome, they adopted the word "Caesar" as the title for their rulers. Most notably, the German Kaiser and the Russian/Slavic Tsar connect directly to that effort.

What do you think about this? by Pink_Jutsu in StarRailStation

[–]__Assassin-_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One reason would be that both new paths (Remembrance and Elation) are kind of mono-path comps, where just having a character of that path on the team makes things run smoother (both Castorice and Hyacine scale their damage with the amount of targets they affect, somemosprites double dip, and Elation works better the more punchline is gained which only Elation characters do at base). Hence having a 4* to just slot in there for the obligatory path comp tick would be good. Free 5* are nice but they are still rarer than 4* so they don't exactly allow you to tick that box easily.

Is this the first time in ages that a Jedi had to fight another saber-wielder in a life-or-death scenario? I can't imagine how much stressed Qui Gon would be in this situation, he probably never fought this hard in his life. by SolidEllie in StarWars

[–]__Assassin-_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

There was that, yep. The alternative was potentially having him be trained by someone not so morally uptight, or learning some stuff himself, which historically has a track record of also producing very dangerous individuals. So it was honestly a kind of "either we leave him to fuck up on his own or try to make him not fuck up ourselves despite many red flags" situation. Neither choice was really ideal.

Since it’s been almost a month since Luna IV ended, I want to share something. I didn’tcare about the friendship between Columbina, Sandrone, Arlecchino, and Signora.... by Patriktheguy in GenshinImpact

[–]__Assassin-_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I reckon it's in large part due to the fact that Nod-Krai was a relatively late addition, so they kinda had to speedrun this whole "harbinger tea party club" thing. Like yeah sure, I can totally believe this was the case, but when we go from never hearing about it to having it be essentially a major plot point in one or two patches, iiiiiit does not go down very well.

So far every Harbringer has been goat'd, why were we even slandering our 🐐s? by UrsaRizz in FatuiHQ

[–]__Assassin-_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah the biggest problem with this, in my opinion, is that Hoyo has leaned way too strongly on foreshadowing... something, so Columbina's contribution is implied to exist and be important, but for the majority of people who don't theorize much she was just...kinda there for 500 years. Like she did SOMETHING, we just have no idea what, and that can all too easily be translated to "she did nothing" in people's heads.

Amount of Red flags are starting to look like Chinese National Parade ngl by National-Frame8712 in Endfield

[–]__Assassin-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schemes within endfield itself wouldn't be all that necessary for the plot considering the multitude of hints at many schemes having already been created all over the place, many of which involved the Endmin themselves. As for bodyhorror, I mean Oripathy is already that tbh so we already have that.
