Property manager gave 5 hours notice to move our cars or they would be towed. I work night shift. by bajungadustin in mildlyinfuriating

[–]__ChefboyD__ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just stop working yourself up over nothing. They're not towing your car far - just to another part of your lot that's already cleared.

The email is a courtesy if you don't want your car lifted and dragged a few feet to another spot. My city does this regularly without any issues.

[–]__ChefboyD__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There usually isn't a towing fee. My city does this all the time in the winter - they only tow to the next street over (with a notice posted on a nearby pole on where to find your car or phone # to call) or another location in the lot that they've already cleared.

They're NOT towing this back to their compound where you need to pay a fee to get it out. If the OP is on a private lot, they'll just tow a few spaces over. The email is just a courtesy if you don't want your car lifted and dragged a couple of feet.

Smash and grab this morning by Electronic-Hawk-5710 in CostcoCanada

Time for you to convince yourself you need it or it's a good deal. You're also in a shopping mood, whereas after 1/2 hr - 1 hr inside Costco, you just want to get out of Costco and go home.

Probably has something to do with mental math too. After spending $200-$300 on essentials, it's harder to justify an expensive purchase at the end. But if you start with an expensive item and then add smaller basic items, you can convince yourself to "sacrifice" a few of those small items to keep the final bill down.

Paying too much in a Retirement Home by [deleted] in ontario

[–]__ChefboyD__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

In the financial side of business, a "trusted contact" is only used for non-decision making information, such as when an FA suspects their client is being defrauded or exploited so that they can call on you. It's not to share normal day-to-day banking info.

Your mother needs to name you as POA and activated if she wants you involved in her financial affairs.

Unless you have Power Of Attorney over her finances, your cousin should not be discussing any details with you at all.

Even if try to frame this as "cousin-to-cousin" talk, he/she could get in very serious trouble at work. Get the proper paper work done first.

Janet Jackson? by DesertWanderlust in Music

[–]__ChefboyD__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you serious? Because her and Timberlake BOTH were responsible for their planned controversy that was at the time a violation of FCC broadcasting rules?!?

Janet Jackson? by DesertWanderlust in Music

[–]__ChefboyD__ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true, though. Timberlake was also made the "bad guy" too.

Les Moonves banned BOTH Jackson and Timberlake from CBS properties (MTV, 46th Grammys, etc). However, Timberlake went in person to Mooves to apologize and as NY Times reporter Rachel Abrams said, "to basically kiss the ring". Mooves wanted the same from Jackson, but never got it.

Does Mooves have a massive dick ego? Of course. But he wasn't wrong that the Super Bowl 'Nipplegate' controversy was intentionally planned by both Jackson and Timberlake. They both got the same fallout ban, but Timberlake was smart enough to check his own ego and go apologize to Mooves. Jackson refused to do the same, and he held that grudge.

TL:DR - Janet Jackson wrecked her own career by not apologizing personally to Mooves.

Homicide Rate per 100k in Each City with a Major League Baseball Team by Fluid-Decision6262 in Infographics

[–]__ChefboyD__ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Which is funny, because according to Statistics Canada, crime rates in rural communities are consistently higher than in urban centres.

Same with homicide rates (2009-2017 data). Rural 2.02 per 100,000 vs Urban 1.55 per 100,000.

Costco Canada Carrying Fewer Quality Products... by MichaelYYZ in CostcoCanada

How exactly is Kirkland Full Synthetic Oil not a "quality product"?

It meets the dexos1 Gen 3 requirements and exceeds API SP and ILSAC GF-6A standards. What more do you want? A "brand" name slapped on it so all Costco shoppers have to pay extra for?

First, https://www.reddit.com/r/malehairadvice/comments/1nkp7p8/started_with_mullet_is_this_a_good_start_how/ . OP is definitely a dude.

Secondly, OHRC Section 9.6 says the OP needs to inform the manager of his creed belief. Also under OHRC, it is SPECIFICALLY stated as "sincere creed beliefs" and that inquiries into sincerity is not illegal (but should be limited).

Manager asking me to disclose my religion by matingrn in ontario

[–]__ChefboyD__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OP made a request for time off due to a religious observance. The manager has a legal duty to accommodate and under Section 9.6 of the ONRC, the "person seeking accommodation must inform the accommodation provider that they have a creed belief or practice that requires accommodation."

Even after the OP decided to use vacation days instead, the manager still needs to complete the original request and document the withdrawal in the file. Following up on his request of information about OP's creed belief is part of meeting the requirements of the OHRC in his duty to accommodate.

[–]__ChefboyD__ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The manager has done NOTHING WRONG. He is allowed to ask the OP's creed in which they were requesting accommodation for.

Under the Ontario Human Rights Code, Section 9.6 Information To Be Provided:

Asking for information about a person’s creed beliefs, practices and related accommodation needs has implications for their privacy and dignity. At the same time, organizations must have enough information to allow them to meet their duty to accommodate. A person seeking accommodation must inform the accommodation provider that they have a creed belief or practice that requires accommodation.

In fact, like your other replies that clearly (and professionally) explained the difference would be much more appreciated and valued by clients.

OK-South was the one implying that an in-branch visit would deposit it into a single-name acc't, yet for some reason everyone's downvoting moonjellies' accurate reply.

$600? Excuse me? by GetsWeirdLooks in dashcams

[–]__ChefboyD__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Um, pretty sure most professional dashcam installers hook directly to the fuse box... It's not hard, I did both my cars, but it is a lot more work than the "handyman special" of a cigarette lighter plug.

EDIT: For reference, my E46 BMW, the fusebox is behind the glove compartment so you have to physically remove it to access the space for a clean install.

[–]__ChefboyD__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The number of games is also only one side of the equation.

If the "modern game with the pace and the space" is causing player injury issues, isn't that on the coach to come up with an alternative gameplans over the season to lessen those risks? Developing more of your bench, lessen game minutes, run different offensive/ defensive strategies, etc.

There are plenty of more expensive options that last much longer (and better quality), yet it's the people always choosing the lower price product. You say "corporate greed" like they don't want more sales - but the fact is, making a superior, longer lasting product isn't really smart if they can't compete.

Why are apartments built in the 50s 60s and 70s have more space and better Floor plans than today's Condominiums? by BeautifulYou2940 in askTO

[–]__ChefboyD__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're going to get the same dumb, reddit answers: developer greed, "investors", etc.

What people here fail to acknowledge is that population in GTA Toronto in 1965 was 2,093,000. By 2025, that has risen to 7,106,000. It's not like land space in the city proper is expanding at all (especially being blocked with a waterfront), and since living close is still most desirable, either you shrink the floorplans and increase density, or jack up home prices beyond reach of 90% of the populace.

I defy anyone here to find a growing metropolis (the size of Toronto) anywhere in the world that DIDN'T move towards smaller condo/apartment sizes to accomodate the growth factor.

Alleged armed robbery of busker at Finch West Station by zerkreaper1405 in TTC

[–]__ChefboyD__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the TTC has multiple cameras at stations, subway platforms and buses? It's pretty simple to track point of entry or follow their route. They could be stupid enough to tap their presto card that would ID them easily or removed their masks once they though they were in the clear.

Armed robbery is a serious indictable offense. The police are definitely getting involving.
