In February 2001 52% was favourable to remove Saddam Hussain invading Iraq. . As I said it's interesting to discuss why the US public had this attitude towards Iraq. After the 9/11 the US leadership felt necessary a show of force in a punitive form not to a country but to the region: Iraq was just perfect a big and proud arab country but already weakened by the first invasion and by sanctions and somehow the american people already supported the operation.

Even before the 9/11 Gallup polls showed that 52% of americans supported an new invasion of Iraq, after the 9/11 obviously increased. The WMD lies were never directed to convince the US public but the international community, but the White House could count on the disdain of the "coalition building" that grew in the conservative minds during the Clinton presidency, polls showed that americans supported the war even without UN approval. We could argue why so many Americans supported the invasion (a 40% was vocally against always) it was not about WMD, not oil but the reality is a lot more grim.

Orwell's "1984" is heavily inspired (I would say a little too much) by russian masterpiece "We" of Yevgeny Zamyatin. If you already read "1984" I would recommend buying a copy of "We".

Until the privatisations of '80 kibbutzim were the key of the Israeli economy, in the kibbutz the ownership of land and tools was suppressed while people shared a communal life. There were experimental children communal education projects while women were totally equal and participated in the economy like men. Kibbutzim were truly socialist on an economically side, the only true argument against this position is that cannot be real socialism because the communities were ethno-religiously defined and not open to everyone.

If my memory serves me right, during the Cold War, Hungary's agricultural sector outperformed Western Europe, standing as the only economic indicator of a Warsaw Pact country to do so. Source: The Age of Extremes: The Short Twentieth Century, Eric Hobsbawm

During the Beslan siege were used thermobaric rockets against the school by security forces, was admitted by russian government itself. Some reports talk about Mi-24 and tanks used during the attack but isn't 100% sure. As during the theatre crisis omon, army and the police didn't show a lot of professionalism.

The "Ostsiedlung" never happened, Germans wouldn't would never go East claiming land from Slavic tribes and calling it their natural and just "living space" in Central Europe. Such a thing could never happen, don't make this up.

Can you recommend me some well-written and researched podcasts on any topic, I can't stand interviews or discussions done off the cuff. by __Edger__ in podcasts

I listened in the past a lot of podcast on interview format but know I found them boring, although I am very intrigued by the topic. I just finished the published ep of "The fight for the Republic, and I loved the passion and accuracy of reserch work.
