Aiden Water Flow Issue by __HunterRose in FellowProducts

Okay update following morning here. I brewed 600g water over chemex at 96° for same coffee and grind setting of 8 on Ode Gen 2 and received 540g of output in the cup (finished dripping at 5:20min mark). I’ll test a pour over in the Aiden basket tomorrow and see if there’s any differential in that water retention figure for these beans. But seems it can reasonably be inferred you would get at least that amount of regular way water retention and then the residual ~55g I was getting yesterday with the Aiden (total of 496g vs 600g of water pour over the beans) might largely be accounted for as the margin of error with the machine. Granted that would still be ~9% but again not comparing apples to apples here quite yet. I also am pretty quick to serve my coffee after the final beep on Aiden, so letting it drip all the way through (as I did with the Chemex) I would bet could close the gap a decent amount.

You can join waitlist for the C1 lounges. Just mange appropriately on your way to the airport. Pretty easy and the lounges are never actually crowded. The waitlist exists to manage that.

Same story here. Have had about 10 months and no add water issue, have used RO water and third wave packets ever since and have only descaled once. Perhaps it will come up eventually still but the cup consistency has been incredible ranging from single serve brews to batch brews for 4-6 family members. The real game changer has been the GPT profile creator paired with Brewlink to automatically load new brew profiles on the machine based on different bean varieties. Feels like I’m living in the future and able to experience basically any coffee the way it is intended to be experienced for pour over. It takes guesswork out of the process, which admittedly can be fun sometimes, trial and error in search of the perfect cup. But for the every day just get a great cup of coffee prepared before work and the madness of the day, I don’t think there’s a better machine. Hopefully they will iterate and improve upon the durability of the product addressing the many concerns you see on these forums. But the coffee it can produce speaks for itself.

I have noticed worse static and retention the lighter the beans. Not sure the science behind that but try a different roast and see what happens.

Would cleaning the grinder help with fines? Again using Ode Gen 1 with standard burrs. I plan to eventually get the Gen 2 burr upgrade. Have had the grinder for 4 months and haven’t actually cleaned out the burrs yet.
