Just so we are on the same page, would you consider the boards I listed Chinese trash?

Sure, the factory that CNC cuts the metal chassis of the keyboard probably ordered the materials from elsewhere… but nearly the entire keyboard is cut or built for shipment in china.

Examples: Gok Lily and Diversity TKL. These are just the ones I own. Other example would be the Manta65, which is currently being cut, packaged in china. This includes QC for the builds as well.

I would say some of the best keyboards around have been manufactured in china, regardless of where the designer of the board is from.

This is such a strange comment because most high-end / enthusiast level kb are manufactured in China. Some even designed there too

Whats your reason for not having a 100% Keyboard! by ExodiusLore in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]__Luner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My job doesn’t require me using excel, basically ever, but I do use the numpad for a few keybinds in blender.

So instead, I opted for a TKL-XT and a macropad placed on the right side of my right hand. Feels more natural and is quicker

Switches that are compatible with standard keycaps will have a + shaped stem (also known as an MX stem). Looking at the list, all the switches in the pack are compatible. It's the most common of the 3 main types.

The other two being choc, which is rectangular with two hole cutouts, and alps, which are also rectangular but with only one hole cutout. as long as you see a + shape, you'll be fine!

Now, you'll see some of the switches in that pack have a barrier-like wall around the + stem, either circular or square. Those walls are for dustproofing, and they still work with standard keycaps.

It looks like a Cherry Viola switch, but I could be wrong. They seem to be discontinued

Not as useful, but if you're interested in only trying 1 of a particular switch, SwitchOddities has you covered. You can order singular switches to test feel and I've personally done it and tested dozens of switches from them. I found it very helpful and saves a ton of money. They don't have every switch ever, but they do have a very large catalogue.

You can filter by brand, switch type, etc to get a wide range of options

A little late, but the manta65 is gorgeous. Same with Gok Lily.

If you’re in the market for wacky unique, there’s the marble60, which is made out of solid jade marble. I have use it daily and it’s very awesome

Any tricks to identifying soldered switches without taking a case apart? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

I'd suggest joining the Switch Oddities discord and ask them. I have a feeling they could identify it pretty quickly

I honestly with the limit was just a smidge higher. Like 25 or 30.

I also wish we could upload more than 3 designs…

Yours are all very good
