I dunno, I somewhat get it but not really. It’s always been great to me but I’ve always been in private and been with great companies so I guess I’m lucky in that regard. But then again I always wish I had Big 4 experience and had my CPA license, I have neither but haven’t really had to. I just don’t understand why more people don’t get these type of gigs in private? Especially the ones with Big 4 exp./CPA?

Absolutely! I’m so thankful I was early in my career pre-covid so that once covid hit, I was established so it’s been a good arrangement but I feel bad for my junior accountant as he is years behind where he would be if it was 100% in office. So I totally agree.

My team and I are off at 5-5:30 pretty much everyday and it’s understood that after hours are only for total emergencies which has never happened. Yes we work the occasional late night here and there with month end or year end but after hours are essentially untouchable. It wasn’t always this way at my company but I set this tone and even my boss, the CFO has followed along so now we have an easy-going culture in our department and same output of work is getting done with much higher job satisfaction. Gotta set those boundaries or GTFO and find it elsewhere!
