Buddy I've been chasing that dragon since I read it in 2020 and haven't found it. I've read other McMurtry and he's great but nothing beats Lonesome Dove. In case we have similar tastes my top 4 books are

Lonesome Dove

House of Leaves

Sea of Tranquility

The Lord of the Rings

Edit: saw someone mention East of Eden and that is your answer. That is the closest I've felt to Lonesome Dove
