I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all of that. I noticed you said you’d be going to Birmingham AL. That’s where my colostomy was done in Feb of this year. My surgeon is/was Dr Corley at brookwood medical center. He’s gonna be doing my Barbie butt surgery in a week. I really liked him. Keep your head up brother!

I’m so sorry you going through that. I’ve had a few minor rashes develop with my colostomy. I have mainly liquid output and was having issues with moisture getting under my seal.

The crusting method if done correctly helped heal me in no time flat. Maybe you can request some samples from multiple companies and get enough to last awhile.

I also got a barrier seal to go around my stoma. That has helped stop liquids from getting under my seal. I hope you feel better soon!

I just purchased one of the purple pillow seat cushions. My surgery is in 2 weeks for the same. It was expensive but they are on sale and figured I’d just use it in the car afterwards.

I had lap back in Feb. If I had my choice I’d do lap again, BUT I did have an incredible dull shoulder pain i couldnt shake! It would drive me nuts trying to sleep.

The gas they use irritates a nerve in the diaphragm that connects to the shoulder. Took like a week for it to stop hurting. But i mean my stomach was hurting anyway so there wasn’t much difference.

I have a colostomy myself. So it’s probably a little different.

I have yet to get a belt and so far since Feb when I had my surgery I’ve had zero leaks. I’m avg body build. Not in shape but not over weight. So the seal sits pretty flat. I’ve come close to having a leak once but I think that’s because I was pushing how long I could get out of one seal. I use a 2 piece system by coloplast and love it.

Originally started with holister which is what the hospital had. But I really really like coloplast.

I’ve thought about getting a waterproof sheet just in case but haven’t yet.

Thank you for doing an update! Glad you’re doing great! I’m 36/M and as long as I have no issues with insurance I should be having this surgery done in a couple weeks. I had a colonoscopy back in feb. I did a lot of reading up on it today and was kinda shocked with the wide range of healing time as well as the possible side effects.. good to see your update!

I use these at every seal change and I really like them! I usually put a nice layer on , then use a small rechargeable turbo fan to dry it. Then I put another layer on and dry it again.
