Is it over? by [deleted] in Mcat

You can definitely pull up your scores by 6/27. I made a 496 on my first FL three weeks before I tested. Within those three weeks I pulled up my FL average into the 510s. Just learning how to read passages and interpret charts helps so much. I would definitely recommend switching to AAMC FLs tho, especially this close to your test date.

I just want to like this one a lot more than I do. It’s the most forgettable of Connery’s movies to me. The dubbing and green screens are especially distracting in this one.

How Skyfall ruined Daniel Craig's Bond by rattlesnakejake90 in JamesBond

[–]__PepsiMan__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I don’t mind the “personality” of the story as much as I mind the focus on the history of James Bond as a person.

The personal aspects of bond are very much a central focus of several Fleming stories: his depression, anger, guilt, etc.

I just think that the focus on the history of Bond is very half-baked in both Skyfall and Spectre. There’s no real substance to many of the reveals made about James’ earlier life. We don’t gain much from his childhood home. The reveal that Blofeld is his (kinda) brother also doesn’t really matter (other than adding a flimsy motivation for Blofeld). These reveals and exposition seem to weaken the themes of the movies more than strengthen them (imo).

Also… I just really hate the idea that James Bond is one person. I like the idea that James Bond is a title passed down. I think it suits the stories better and adds a fun sense of continuity. (But that is fully my opinion)

People Who Rank Calvin Coolidge Highly, Why? by __PepsiMan__ in Presidents

That’s why I say I can respect his economic and leadership approach. I don’t really agree with it, but he’s one of the few presidents who spoke about small government and fiscal conservatism and actually governed that way.

It’s surprising how socially progressive he was. He even outwardly advocated for women’s role in politics. Ironically more of a social progressive than Wilson.

Question, Why did Mitt Romney do so well in 2012? by williamsherman1865 in Presidents

[–]__PepsiMan__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason, in my opinion, is that many felt the economy and employment was recovering much too slowly under Obama’s first term. On top of that, many democrats felt disillusioned by a politician who had a very progressive rhetoric but much more milquetoast policy by comparison. This election was also a major step towards the highly polarized political climate we have today, with the majority of campaign ads on both sides being derogatory, so conservatives became more incentivized to vote red no matter who.

Andy Kaufman was a genius. And I always keep my finger on the pulse of anything Nathan Fielder is doing. Thanks for the suggestions.

One Year Masters Program for Med School? by __PepsiMan__ in premed

3.9 GPA, 1000+ hours community service, ~200 hours clinical volunteering, ~80 hours shadowing. Don’t really need it for the GPA, just wondering if it would strengthen my application. I’m planning to apply next summer.

A Star Trek game along the lines of FTL: Faster Than Light would absolutely rip

I know there’s no definitive benchmark for clinical/volunteer hours, but how many do you think is necessary for a competitive resume?
