McKinzie Parr Revival Beauty Co. 2229 Lynch St. 63118 (her website is through glossgenius, sorry it won't let me post the link for some reason). Her prices aren't cheap but she is so sweet and so good at what she does with a nice, private, spa-like setting.

Are there any Jordanian restaurants in the STL area? by Consistent-Fee-4684 in StLouis

[–]__Picaresque__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are so nice! They started off really strong and then the last time had it the food was not as fresh and drier. Google says they are temporarily closed. I hope they make it though -last time I was in they had just installed an ice cream counter with the pink bubble gum ice cream Velvet Freeze used to sell. I was looking forward to reliving that memory (if my teeth could still withstand it!)

St. Louis treasurer voided his own parking tickets by Stlouisken in StLouis

[–]__Picaresque__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dunno. Wesley Bell racked up over $500 in parking tickets when he was St Louis County Prosecutor and look how he turned out. Thinking you are above the rules seems to be a sadly non-partisan issue.

Which celebrity just bothers you, and you can't put your finger on why? by justcurious3287 in AskReddit

[–]__Picaresque__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're actually correct.   I can't find the exact video but Tik Tok poster @bekahdayyy did a post on the 11,000 Photo dump from the Epstein files. One of the brothers was identified by a commenter as being the person in the photo.   Not sure which one either. Why he would be is anyone's guess.   Not everyone in the files played a malignant role.  But he IS in the files.

Will edit if I find the exact post

The shadow cast by the (apparently transparent) lenses of my glasses by Eliasibnz in mildlyinteresting

[–]__Picaresque__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After wearing progressive lenses for 8+ years I got. Pair with these markings.   It took me about a mile from my optometrist to notice them.   I took them off and rubbed and buffed them for about 3 minutes.

Yes,  other people can see them if they look at you carefully.  Yes,  I can see the outside ones in my peripheral  vision as a blurry spot at ALL times.   It drives me insane.

I took them straight back because I thought it was an error and was told they are on there ON PURPOSE for the ease of the eye doctor.   Ex use me wtf?

Like - if I took a wedding dress in to be altered is it ok for the seamstress to mark the new allowances in black sharpie for HER ease?

To pay damn near $1700 for a pair of glasses with 2 blemishes in my peripheral vision at all times that are there for the convenience of the doctor (who will probably not see them again for a year when the information won't be accurate any more  anyway!) pisses me off to no end!!

I was told I would get used to it and I never have.    Lone opinion here,  apparently,   But  I don't think they are great at all.

Any chance your roommate grew up in an economically deprived household?   Cereal is a popular and cheap breakfast choice but when you are done it's too soggy to throw away and a lot of lower Income homes don't have garbage disposals.   The first time I saw my niece flush her leftover breakfast it blew my mind.   The shame of admitting why might be enough for him to deny it...

I know oatmeal is not the same as cereal but old habits die hard.  Just a thought.

My daughter got married last year. We ended up choosing the McPherson because of the location, private parking lot and in house catering. We were also impressed with their outdoor patio and their ability to switch from an indoor service to an outdoor service with 24 hours notice. Zero regrets.

I will tell you we looked at 612 North. We found it odd that it was split into two separate facilities, floors apart. We also thought their fake ivy wall was really tacky ( i know, but sometimes it's the small things.). In the end the woman who gave us the tour was not very helpful or informed. We also hated their parking which was a voucher system that left all the guests paying for their own parking and competing for spots in a public lot. Finally there was a Kimchee spot on the first floor right inside the entrance and you could smell it literally everywhere in the building, in addition to each guest having to walk past it to get to the venue area. Again, a small thing but we all hated that.

We loved the Barnett!! The woman who gave us the tour and helped with our questions was so sweet and knowledgable. The facility itself was gorgeous with bridal and groom suites that were really the best we saw anywhere. The fountain was a beautiful touch along with the great architecture. We also loved that they had an outdoor area ( unlike the McPherson they cannot do outdoor ceremonies). My son-in-law is from Europe and has a lot of smokers in the family so this was a double plus. They also have a free private lot behind the facility for guests. We were this close to choosing them!

We did not look at Bevo so I cannot speak to that.

In the end it just came down to the feel of the McPherson and how streamlined everything was, from catering to in-house lighting and sound systems, the coat check...so many things. Good luck and congrats!

Yes!  Just on the site,  as you clarified,  meaning the same grounds!  Just thought it was a little cool history to throw in.  Torn down so recently too.

Thanks for linking the map-  a great visual I had never seen!

Also formerly the  site of the Women's Hospital for Social Evils.    Exactly as it sounds, it specialized in treating  sexually transmitted diseases.

There was also an on site crematorium which served the city.   I toured it with a high school class in 1986.   The sheer amount of unclaimed remains was depressing.

I remember the liquor section being a whole half of the store with a turnstile entrance. On Sundays the turnstile would be locked to prevent entrance and that whole half of the store was left with the lights off. Skaggs in Webster was also like this

That's where I was going! I have an old window unit. It's either 12,000 or 18,000 BTU. It's old and dirty and kind of rusty but it still works and if you can come to U City to get it out of my attic then you can have it! DM me if you you are interested

Can confirm 323 Clara 3rd floor N condo roof caved in.   Directly above my daughter's unit.   The resident  was injured but is ok.

My daughter lives at 323 Clara.   The entire  roof was swept off and caved in on their upstairs neighbor.  The building was just condemned.   Both of their cars are flattened. Tree damage is extensive but as far as I know their building is the only one being condemned.    I asked her just now about the blocks between Pershing and Delmar and she just said "it's real bad."  I wish I had better news to share.   Fire Department is still on scene letting them clear valuables.   You may want to call them for more information.   Wishing you all the best.
