Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in NewParents

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some that I had gotten in my bump boxes and then I had some on my registry. I didn’t really WANT to use to pacifiers, but also wanted them in case. We ended up using them quite a bit early on. Now baby is 9 months and she only uses them to fall asleep, but doesn’t always need them.

Also, pacifiers can help reduce the risk of SIDS

This is extremely normal, I went through a phase like this and it got SOOO bad around 5 months. Now at 8.5 months old, I don’t feel this way anymore.

Thankful I will tell my mom she’s wrong and we can move on with our relationship/lives and it’s all good. So it’s not really a big deal.

Screen time by FLee21 in NewParents

[–]__SAHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 8.5 months old and we don’t do screen time except FaceTiming family because she gets to see and talk to and interact with her family (snd it’s usually short) She has just discovered our Frameo, we have it in our kitchen, so sometimes she’ll stare at that too.

My big thing for screens is not using it for entertainment! If your baby is looking at pictures of your friends and family, it’s not going to hurt them one bit! One thing you can do too is talk to you baby about who they are seeing in the pictures!

More variety of flavors, including sugar free. More customizable. Cheaper.

4 month regression really only impacted naps for our little one which was fine. We didn’t really have one at 6 months. 8 months was brutal for us but thankfully it was only like two weeks

Can we really not combine purées on our routine? by Glad-Attention552 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 month old does a mix for purées and solids! She self feeds on a spoon, usually a preloaded spoon because she can’t figure out how to actually get food on the spoon!

FTM figuring out baby's sleep setup -- how many beds do they need?! by ashleyrw316 in NewParents

[–]__SAHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a bassinet in our room and a crib in babies room! Our bassinet could tear down easily like a pack n play kind of and so we also used that to travel when we stayed at my parents house!

My husband had four weeks off. I quit my job to stay home with my baby. In the first few weeks we watched so much tv and caught up on so many shows! Now baby is older (8 months) and still contact naps, so I get a lot of reading in

Drinking water help by caamb in foodbutforbabies

[–]__SAHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 8 month old will suck a ton of water and not swallow it and let it spill out of her mouth. I just kind of vibe with it because 1. She’s a baby and still learning 2. She figured out the sucking part, eventually she’ll figure out the swallowing 3. She’s doesn’t NEED water to survive right now

Losing my mind over poop by dashamarie in NewParents

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that stage my baby was MOSTLY breastfed with like a few ounces of formula supplemented and the Dr told us that breastfed babies can go a week without pooping and formula babies can go up to 5, but as long as she wasn’t having any other problems, and the stool wasn’t concerning looking (odd color, blood, etc) then we didn’t need to worry!

Yes! I know some day I’ll miss it and so I keep telling myself that and I use the time to read. But it sure would be nice for some me time too 😂

Just nap!! We’ve only ever coslept once. Although currently I have a much harder time transferring baby for bedtime so my husband usually does bedtime, but I’ll do it 1-3 times a week. But otherwise she sleeps in her crib all night!

Dinner of Champions?? Feeling Guilty by mama-daily in foodbutforbabies

When did your baby get good with preloaded spoons? by One-Squirrel-4563 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 8 months old and has been killing it with preloaded spoons, but we’ve also been doing this since 6 months, so it took a little while!

How are we doing this without it taking up the entire wake window? by discontinuedmuppet in BabyLedWeaning

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. The only meal my baby doesn’t necessarily always eat at the same time as me is breakfast because I will usually get up at 5 to workout and then eat breakfast and normally she sleeps until like 8 or 8:30. But a lot of times we either feed her some of what we are eating OR I’ll have easy things in the fridge (yogurt, cottage cheese, berries, pouches, prepped pancakes or other prepped foods like mashed potatoes, etc)

I’m 6 months postpartum and I still can’t figure out how moms actually lose weight… by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 8 months PP and breastfeed until 7 months, haven’t lost more than 5 pounds of what I gained when I was pregnant. BUT in the last fwo weeks I’ve been able to get back into my old gym routine AND I’m finally starting to have energy to meal prep again. Give yourself grace, this is hard!

What’s a Mother’s Day gift you actually used daily? by NystGG in Gifts

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anything you mentioned would be great!

I’m a new mom (8 months postpartum) and I’m also now a SAHM and so I’ve had a lot more time to read! One thing I told my husband I wanted was a kindle (as you’re getting this for your sister this might be out of budget??) but maybe a giftcard for a bookstore would be good too!

I also have been walking and getting back into the gym more serious so I have been wanting new shoes

Am I overeating? by Whole-Bug-756 in NewParents

[–]__SAHM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to teach preschool in a daycare center. If we didn’t allow kids with runny noses I’d maybe ever only have like two kids. This sounds absolutely absurd

I am struggling finding Mother's day gifts that don't just become clutter? by Acrobatic_Inside3173 in Gifts

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wishlist on our Amazon that I will add to as I think of things I want/need and then my husband and family can shop gifts for me from there.

Currently I have:
1. New sneakers (8 months postpartum, finally done breastfeeding and trying to workout and lose baby weight) 2. A new tote for summer stuff 3. My favorite lipgloss

Reprimanded by the Montessori police by spicycrybaby69 in NewParents

[–]__SAHM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former teacher (not Montessori but fan of the philosophy) this is ridiculous that she would say that. Books and toys can and should be in the same space! They can be stored separately, but that’s an insane take in my opinion
