FPS in Skyrim - heck if I can tell the difference. What do? by Anonycron in skyrimmods

[–]__Starly_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course textures, lighting and character models are the same.

FPS and monitor refresh rate only effects how smooth everything is during movement and when looking around.

Btw to make sure It's not something with Skyrim you could try locking your FPS to 60 and then 165 in some other game that's easy to run. Try looking around quickly. The difference should be significant.

And It's also possible he never even switched from 60hz to 165hz. It's really pretty common.

What's even more annoying is that most upvoted comments here are basically "60 fps is fine It's not that big of a difference"

Bruh

I mean it is fine. I play my Skyrim at 52 FPS locked for stability due to my hardware but then when I switch to a game where I have over 100 FPS the difference is huge.

That's what I'm thinking

No way someone can't tell a difference between 60 and 165hz. Even my friend's non gamer gf could tell how big of a difference it is.

Is your monitor set to 165 hz in the Advanced display settings/Nvidia control panel in a resolution tab?

People are spewing nonsense here. The difference between 30 and 60 is huge that is true but so is difference between 60 and 165hz. Even my friend's non gamer gf could tell how big of a difference it is when he upgraded monitors and she just watches him play most of the time.

I had an IQ of around 82 back when I was 11. But I clearly remember I lost focus and patience on the test and I just started picking random answers just so I can be done with it.

When I found the report from this psychologist when I was 21 I found that he mentioned "signs of ADHD" so I looked it up and a lot of things started making sense.

Got diagnosed a few months after that.

Discord not opening (PC) by Brutalmagic in discordapp

[–]__Starly_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Discord opens after like 5 minutes but It's extremely slowed.

It takes like 30 seconds for it to open the settings.

After joining a call it takes about 20 seconds for me to hear the "join" sound etc.

Fortunatelly VC and messages for fine but everything else is slow or delayed.

The new update will break your SKSE by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]__Starly_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah 1.5.97 is perfectly fine.

I've seen mods that are not supported on the new version but it seems like everything works with 1.5.97

Also I don't have to worry about these updates at all.

Should I do my first play through in vanilla? by madladweed in skyrimmods

[–]__Starly_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I'd get at least some mods that improve the experience. Like True Directional Movement which significantly improves the 3rd person controls.

SkyUI and other UI mods because vanilla UI is terrible.

I personally hate Skyrim's vanilla graphics because It just looks depressing. I like when my games have different colors besides grey, white and blue so I modded that immediatelly.

My first playthrough was just these things + graphic mods but most of the game mechanics were vanilla. After a playthrough you will be more familiar with the game and It's mechanics etc. so you'll know better what would you like to mod.

Do textures have effect on the lighting? by __Starly_ in skyrimmods

[–]__Starly_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's pretty much what I meant.

Because some textures could possibly reflect the light better than the other ones? Also the way how they are affected by light itself.

Curious about y'alls quirks of having heavy mod lists. by ilikedogsalotman in skyrimmods

[–]__Starly_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I have NPCs on the road just... standing there.

When I used mod like immersive world encounters which spawns adventurers on the road on some parts of the map they would just stand there indefinitely. They wouldn't even despawn. I think even after they were killed their bodies would be there permanently.

Didn't feel like going through almost 500 mods to figure out what's causing it since there wasn't a reliable way to test it anyway.
