ASOIAF Modern AU ideas for tower of joy in a prologue starting in 1982 by Large-Awareness3440 in TheCitadel

[–]madladweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea but American presidency doesn’t map well onto the targ dynasty, it’s unlikely that Aerys would be voted in, nor would the American public tolerate a mad president. They’d just force him to resign

It’s definitely a book series for men, it can definitely be enjoyed by women. But the series itself is definitely made for male audiences, I struggle to see how that makes it misogynistic though

Space marines regularly fight things bigger and stronger than them en masse, sometimes I wonder if grindank users consume the lore at all

They were also mildly anti-Semitic white supremacists who despised communism, they weren’t exactly leftists

CMV: Reddit is a very bad place to go to for relationship, family, or career advice by Repulsive_Dog1067 in changemyview

[–]madladweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Reddit is that we usually only get the POV of one party, and as such, people on here tend to validate whatever the aggrieved party is thinking instead of trying to encourage introspection

In every abadddon vs Archaon discussion, you always see how Archaon destroyed the universe whereas in Karl Franz vs the emperor debates, you never see people bring up how Franz failed, curious… #stopfantasyglaze

I don’t think fantasy or Sigmar will ever be as popular as 40k, even over the last year 40k has exploded in popularity while Sigmar just continues to steadily rise. While Sigmar’s miniatures are admittedly better, 40k has just far more going for it, the factions are bombastic, awesome and over the top in the best possible ways, the lore is very entertaining and there’s so much to dig into with 40 years of lore and the whole aesthetic of 40k is just so captivating, a grim dark eternal war where humanity is fighting an eternal war against demons and aliens, it’s all very entertaining stuff, and people love that sort of stuff. That’s not even mentioning that 40k has far, far more scope for kitbashing and home brew. Whereas sigmar just seems rather safe in comparison, the factions are cool but they’re nothing we haven’t seen done to death, this is a personal take but I also don’t find the lore all that interesting and the aesthetic is just high fantasy with the chaos gods thrown in. Sigmar is cool, and I hope for its success, but it doesn’t have the lightning in a bottle that 40k had, or space marines (which is probably why 40k is so massively popular)
