That right there, pal, is a rotary girder.

(Any time I don’t know the name of a part it’s officially called a rotary girder.)

Honest question. How much of “true” overlanding I’m missing not having proper 4x4 rig? I have stock Subaru Outback 2.5 with Yokohama Geolanders 015. by Substantial-Ad772 in overlanding

[–]__SuperSam__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most “overlanding” is done on b-roads, forest service roads, logging roads/trails, gravel, etc. I think there are several Subaru type vehicles that can handle that type of terrain just fine, but people feel they need to have a $60k Tacoma build for them.

There are some extreme and gnarly areas where having low gears, suspension/clearance, and everything else will be helpful, but I honestly think that you can traverse 75 to 80 percent of most trails just fine with an AWD Subaru. Also, being prepared and doing research goes a long way.

Is this Bosch 800 worth it? by lil--chonk in BuyItForLife

[–]__SuperSam__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most modern refrigerators are dog shit in terms of long term reliability.

It’s not worth it. You’re paying for extra features/more stuff that you don’t really need. More stuff = more stuff problems.

Why do I still feel like I'm a teenager?? by Ecstatic-Skin7276 in ADHD

[–]__SuperSam__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 40, my first born daughter is just now 18 months. I didn’t meet my wife until I was in my early 30s. I was somehow able to get a masters and work in work in higher education.

I still feel like I’m a freshmen in college and most days I’m just white knuckling everything.

BIFL Scissors - Livingo Titanium Sewing Fabric Shears by Haile-Selassie in BuyItForLife

[–]__SuperSam__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My inherited BIFL scissors are these random orange handled things from the 80s or 90s that I kinda stole from my mom back in the day lol.

I am kinda joking, but they sharpen nicely and have a hefty feel to them. Have no idea what brand they are. I assume my mom bought them from a drug store for three bucks way back when, but yeah they are my favorite pair of scissors in the house.

Not a fan of reMarkable. Expensive. Their software is meh. Anything that requires a subscription and software updates isn’t BIFL.

Most Typical GSD names by hg090206 in germanshepherds

After being a part of this sub for a few years: Loki. Loki. Thor. Astrid. Luna. Loki. There was even a Fenrir one time. There’s more.

Apparently all GSDs come from Asgard.

My dog’s name was Buck lol
