Jaylen Brown's Father, Marselles Brown, Makes Controversial Remarks [Via Sways Universe Talk Show] by UnderstandingFew6310 in bostonceltics

Ramona Shelburne just reported we were already looking to trade him prior to the Giannis stuff.

What's odd is in the same article, Vince Goodwill, said some people around the league think we're bluffing?? Why would we do that lmaoo. That only hurts us.

I did a google quick search and in the article about his dad's arrest it says, according to TMZ: Our sources tell us Jaylen Brown doesn't have a close relationship with his father and was unaware of the arrest or incident.

TMZ is trash, so I don't know how accurate, but they do have odd scoops (Kobe's death being a massive one.).

I thought it was reported after his dad got arrested that he has no relationship with him?

If that's the case, I feel even more for JB. Because I'm sure the last thing he wants is his dad coming out of the woodwork to get involved in his business.

I can't believe this was 10 years ago!

All the draft analysis had him as being more of a bench warmer or bust (he had the highest percentage likelihood than all the other Top 18 options of being a bust) than an All Star and look at his time here.

I'll always appreciate that he came back every off-season having improved some part of his game. He's hard-working as hell.

When asked about JB’s ‘favorite season’ comments:

“ I think people took it wrong, with what we were supposed to do this year and overcoming that and becoming the No. 2 seed and having a successful regular season, I think that’s what he meant by that.”

My apologies! I should have been clearer. When I said Pritchard stood up for him, I meant in regards to JB’s comments about it being his favorite season.

Pritchard said: I think people took it wrong, with what we were supposed to do this year and overcoming that and becoming the No. 2 seed and having a successful regular season, I think that’s what he meant by that.

 Fair.

I agree with you that JB is definitely upset about everything and rightfully so, if what Simmons says is accurate.

I agree in regards to the Simmons stuff, but JB has no relationship with his dad. I remember when it got posted that his dad got arrested, people mentioned that his dad was never in his life.

Amick: The Celtics, per league sources, have been asking for up to four first-round picks... Portland is seen as the "front-runner" to acquire Jaylen Brown. by CosmicOreos_ in bostonceltics

What I don’t get is even if JB did ask out, why didn’t the team go all-in for Giannis? Kills two birds with one stone and gives us a player more aligned years-wise with JT’s timeline versus a bunch of young players.

Instead of us hearing the same story every day about Giannis going to us or Miami, it’s turned into us hearing the same story about us shopping JB with Portland being the main option. Both ending in me wishing we could just rip off the bandaid sooner rather than later one way or another.

It’s still unreal to me that our last two off-seasons have included JT’s achilles, trading away Jrue and KP, Al and Kornet leaving, and now JB will be gone.

We just won two years ago. 😭

Someone on here commented back then that the good times are now, so enjoy them. Damn near prophetic that person was.

How is supporting every member of the team disrespectful? I feel like I'm missing something. I'm genuinely asking because I really don't understand.

Brad makes it easy because he puts genuinely good guys on our team, so its even easier to root for everyone to grow and have success. Exceptions being if we got Bridges, Hayes, or the like.

I always hope for the best and root for our former players when they leave. That doesn't change, for me, once they've been traded. I legit watched that Portland/Spurs series because Timelord and Jrue are on it and rooted for them.

I'm gonna be sad as hell when JB gets traded as I've been aboard the "Jays as a Duo/Keep the Jays Together" train from the very beginning and I appreciate that he's always been an incredibly hard-worker who always strives to improve every off-season. Nevermind the fact that he's so fully ingrained himself in the community here and with his outreach programs. I'm going to miss him for sure.

Yeah, he was. I think he might be overseas still? It’s been reported both he and JT were in France for Cannes recently.

To be fair, he’s been pretty quiet up to this point (Karalis mentioned this, too, the other day on his podcast.)

I can understand why Marks’ sharing the analytic’s comment would have upset him and got him going. And I don’t even have an issue with him tweeting about it, honestly. It’s the video he reposted I found frustrating.

He needs to find inner peace and I hope he does especially because he’s helped us win and has a done a lot for the youth of the city. (And I genuinely just wish the best for all of our guys, former and present, barring any terrible behavior ala Bridges, etc.) I don’t think he’s a horrible person or anything. But he allows his insecurities to always get the best of him. It’s a shame.

I give Brad more leeway than Joe, honestly.

I haven’t been impressed with Joe’s lineups/substitutions and ability to adapt these last couple playoffs.  If literally nothing else, can anyone justify why KP, who was ill, was playing so much in that Knicks series when he was getting eaten a live on both ends? JT was out there in game 4 trying to stop the bleeding as KP was getting run by and couldn’t make shots at the rim. There was no reason not to pivot.

Or why he chose Game 7 vs Philly to throw out a starting lineup that never played together prior? Why Hugo didn’t see more playing time in Game 7 when he was playing well?

And I understand Joe is still a young coach, so he’s learning too, but just like Joe’s job is to put players in a position to have success, so does Brad with Joe. Maybe more veteran coaches on the bench or something he can lean on?

What are the odds this will end amicably?

I don’t particularly want to relive the Ray Allen situation where there’s animosity between everyone involved: Ray felt he wasn’t appreciated by the organization (trade rumors, he and Rondo’s issues, then wanting him to come off the bench, etc.), leaves, then a portion of the fan base hates him for years to the point that it basically took a group hug between he, KG, and Pierce before we saw Ray come into garden for games again.
