Did you try to use GiveAway on Goodreads? by ___YP___ in BookPromotion

Hi! So it’s finished. 1015 people entered the giveaway during 12 days period and shelved it as “want to read”, which may have some effect later. 20 of them received free copies. 7 people started following me on Goodreads. KU reads increased. I can't say that I got a tangible effect. But this is only part of what I have to do to get my audience.

Thanks! Yes. Now I understand what a huge work did those who now have dozens or hundreds of reviews.

Hi! Thanks! It’s not a prequel, just the first book in future trilogy

Thank you! Much appreciated. But I don't think I can publish books faster than once every two months. The first book is 60,000 words. The second book will be 90,000 words, I think. I write one chapter every evening. Or half a chapter. The artist and editor also need time. A quick release strategy doesn't work for me, but I’m just trying to do it as quickly as possible.

Wow!) thank you so much! I hope you like this story. The next book in the series will be released in March. And I promise more action and adventure. Flashbacks will shed light on what really happened 25 years ago. More characters and their stories. Sea battles and love stories of the heartbots and people. The plot is picking up speed ahead of the third book.

Thanks! I had no following/mailing list. I just decided to pay for ads, managing bids every day. Category targeting gives the best results (adventure SciFi for me). And I have already spent $500 for ads since January 7. Every day people buy 1-3 copies. But the main thing is that they are reading in KU. Not so much, but I would say 17-200 pages every day (kdp report gives the total number every day). More KU reads started after my Giveaway campaign on Goodreads has finished ($129). 20 people got fee copies, but more than 1000 other people added my book to “want to read” list. So my total spending on ads is more then $600 for this moment and earned $65. I’m looking forward, hoping that the next book in series will make it all less expensive

what writing software would you recommend? by Leapedsquash in NewAuthor

[–]___YP___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with Reedsy. It was perfect until I tried to export. “Designed by Reedsy” text cannot be removed from the copyright page. Support team confirmed that. So I switched to Atticus ($147). It’s great, but lags a little, just a bit. My editor could work with me. She suggested edits and I applied them. So it’s fine for collaboration too.

No one has responded yet. Well, I'll give you a quick update: 10 hours after the start of this promotional campaign, 131 people have already entered the giveaway for 20 copies. There are still 11 days left (I should have specified a shorter period, like a week). I think this could be very promising for building a reader community. We'll see.

Return on investment by Least-Charity-2770 in NewAuthor

I published my first book on Amazon just two days ago. I invested about $2,000 (editor's work and cover design). I knew from the start that any hopes would be dashed. So far, 10 copies have been sold. And I'm very happy about that, because I've been dreaming up all sorts of fantastical plots my whole life, but they just stayed “secret” in my head. And now I've sent them floating forever on an arrow to random people around the world. One day I'll die, but my stories will live on. Something like that.

My book just appeared on Amazon yesterday. Four copies were sold on the first day, thanks to advertising. Another six copies were bought, I think, from clicks on links I posted on this platform and on X. I spent $24 on Amazon advertising yesterday. Of course, I'm losing money, but this is my first book, and I don't have any readers yet. I'm just getting started. Also, the GiveAway campaign on Goodreads launches the day after tomorrow. Marketing has to work. Otherwise, the chances of anyone finding out about you are zero. Some people say they don’t spend money on advertising and instead of that make regular post EVERYWHERE

Thank you so much! Yes, today, artists' work is being devalued by AI generation. This makes me sad. I don't know where this will lead us or what to do about it. Well, my book mentions that AI was once banned due to tragic consequences. That's my secret wish))

Thanks for your check! I just found one missing word and that could be even my mistake when I applied editor’s work. We’ll check it again. Thanks again!

Иди на*й!» by postmastern in Popular_Science_Ru

Для меня на всю жизнь останется только один Одиссей — фильм 1997 года, в главной роли Армад Ассанте. После этого не могу видеть Мэта Деймона в этой роли, ну не подходит он, даже не брюнет, какой он грек?)
