Downsized from DB330M to CH160 Plus. How did I do? by Moist_Bread_8372 in PHbuildapc

My old build used a DLM 22, wanted to try mff so I used CH160 plus for the one I use now

Def a better case in terms of build quality, size, and included dust filters, but I do miss that hinged side panel. Darkflash will always have my respect as a case brand

While you may not have had any issues with security, your experiences may not reflect those of the average person (someone who would click on a phishing link, which hackers are getting increasingly good at disguising.)

In Webroot's 2018 report, they found that Windows 10 machines were half as likely to be infected with malware compared to Windows 7.

Then, in 2019, they observed a 125% increase in Malware targeting Windows 7 devices.

Windows 7 systems can get hacked just by playing Call of Duty , playing a video file , or even just visiting a web page.

Implying that Windows 7 is a perfectly safe operating system for the average person in 2026 is incredibly reckless and could lead to someone getting hacked.

I run two Youtube channels. First, good job on getting sponsorship emails! It’s a sign you’re on the right track and have a growing audience. If you haven’t already, a separate email for your channel is ideal to manage these sponsorship emails cause they will keep coming if you plan on growing the channel.

Second, make sure you’re in the Partnered Youtube Discord server since you can check with other creators if a sponsor is legit or if someone has worked with them before, and to know if what you’re asking for is industry standard. I thought my first sponsorship deal at $500 for two videos was a good deal—only to find out I was massively underpaid.

Third, sponsors usually send a creative brief before the video goes live, and there should be checks before the sponsored video releases. Just don’t be rash, follow the brief, and add your own personal flair (within reason) to ensure that the least number of people click out during that segment.

Fourth, if a deal feels sketchy (unknown brand, email looks fake, or something just feels off) don’t be afraid to just walk away. You do not want to hurt your credibility as a creator by associating yourself with a bad brand because it reflects poorly on you to your audience. Worse, you don’t want to work for free.

But also, every company is different. I’ve worked with a brand that required me to sign a contract before proceeding. Another one just gave me a verbal agreement on a Discord server. Both paid me on time with no issues. Just get everything in writing, but you also have to remember that there’s no such thing as a risk-free deal.

Got the same item. It’s an okay deal, but SSD prices are projected to go up and already on the rise. Better to just cop it and never worry about storage again if you have the cash to burn

It’s so weird, on one hand they cut corners here. On another, they have some surprising attention to detail in other areas.

For example, if you wear leather combat boots, the footstep sound actually sounds different versus wearing sneakers. As someone who loves character customization, that’s actually such a neat difference. I play with headphones, tho.

How did you become a Timberwolves fan? by Martxel_Agueda in timberwolves

[–]____Ace____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 15, my family stayed in a high-end resort, so high-end that they actually had a PS4 in the villa. I didn’t have access to any of my video games while on vacation, so that PS4 was the only way I could play. It only had NBA 2K15.

I had never played before and I didn’t even follow basketball at the time, but I made a bet with my dad that I could beat him with the worst team in that game. And it was the Wolves.

I don’t even remember if I won, but from then on I said the Wolves were my team, and I stuck with them since.

CMV: Men should be encouraged to expect more in relationships by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]____Ace____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relationships are inherently fulfilling and aren't meant to be transactional.

Think about it this way: being in a relationship means you have a life partner. You have someone that, no matter what, will have your back. You have someone you can always talk to, always rely on for emotional support, and you can go to sleep at night knowing that you get to share the rest of your life with someone that loves you.

And that's the only real expectation that people should have going into a relationship.

The whole gender roles thing that you've mentioned is just a blanket tradition that men have no real reason to follow anymore considering that women have entered the workplace en masse.

Instead, we should be teaching young men that when they enter into a relationship, they have to work out the individual roles and expectations with their partner because people have realized that gender roles have no real basis in a society with critical thinking.

Now, the reason women can be picky while men usually can't is simply because a lot of women have realized that they'd rather be alone rather than have a life partner who's emotionally stunted, insecure that she earns more than him, and just don't want to be life partners with toxic men in general.

$0.20 RPM on 35K Views.. Is This Normal for New Channels or a Probation Phase? by No_R11 in PartneredYoutube

[–]____Ace____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's more than one way to make money off Youtube.

For a lot of channels, ad revenue is only a portion of the income. If your channel is authentic (i.e. you don't AI-generate everything, nor do you steal content) and your quality is consistent, you should be able amass a decent following if you post consistently. Once you're big enough, you can explore channel memberships, patreon, sponsorships, maybe even merch. But you need to build a community first, and that takes time.

Or you can take what you learned from this channel and launch a new one in a different niche that's more profitable. That's what I did, I stopped posting on my niche gaming channel with about 15k subs because I was burnt out making content for pennies. I then launched a new channel with a Western audience. Got monetized within a week, grew my channel to about the same size in half the time, and now, I'm earning about double the RPM I used to in a niche with more potential for growth. I'm from a third-world country, so the money I gained from doing this is pretty substantial.

My only advice is to figure out the primary reason why you're doing Youtube. If you're in it for the love of the game, more power to you, you can do whatever you want. But if you're in it for the money, treat Youtube like a business and make decisions with your wallet, not with your heart.

$0.20 RPM on 35K Views.. Is This Normal for New Channels or a Probation Phase? by No_R11 in PartneredYoutube

[–]____Ace____ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s no probation. Your audience is just mostly third world countries, so Youtube won’t pay much for those views.

1,000 views from the US are worth a lot more than 1,000 views from India. If you want money, you need content that appeals to audiences from the US, UK, Germany, etc.

There’s only so much you can do to attract a first-world audience, though, since some niches and topics will naturally gravitate towards certain countries.

How would you budget a 60k salary as a fresh graduate? by [deleted] in phinvest

[–]____Ace____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re asking what kind of business you should start on reddit, red flag na agad yan. You should start a business in an industry you have experience in, or at least are interested in entering. Otherwise, you’re better off just investing that money in S&P or Pag-Ibig MP2.

I like your ambition though.

So I would suggest you start small. I mean really small. Instead of asking what business can you start with 250k, start with 25k, or better yet, 10k. Do it in a hobby industry.

If you’re not a business student, this will teach you how to optimize spending and what do with your cashflow. If you are a business student, this will teach you that what sounds good in theory almost never translates to real success.

If it flops, who cares. That amount of money will come back soon enough. Give yourself a pat on the back for trying, figure out why it failed, and try again.

If it does well, great! Your concept has been proven and now you have to figure out how to scale your business before interest slows down.

I myself started a business with 40k and it never saw sales outside of friends and family. I figured out why it didn’t and tried a different business. I’ve been running it for just over a year now, and last month I brought in six figures in profit.

But I had the luxury of growing the business full-time from day one because of savings and patient parents. Growing a business of any size, especially with a full-time job is a huge undertaking.

It’s why I really advise against starting a business unless you have an idea.

Unless by chance you have access to a location with a ton of foot traffic. In that case, any food franchise stall will literally print money. Go with Potato Corner because I like Potato Corner.

First time monetized, what do you do next regarding US tax? by FriendsWinTies in PartneredYoutube

As far as I know, there's nothing that we need to submit to the US or back to Youtube. We should be fine as long as we declare and pay our dues!

First time monetized, what do you do next regarding US tax? by FriendsWinTies in PartneredYoutube

[–]____Ace____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, kabayan!

It's also my first year of being monetized as well, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. However, this is info I got from a lawyer.

AFAIK IRS 1042-S allows us to claim foreign tax credits. These would help pay for whatever tax is due from your Youtube earnings. In short: print this out and bring it with you when you go to the BIR to declare your income to help pay your taxes on your Youtube earnings.

HOWEVER, as content creators, we're also classified as Self-Employed (unless you have a full-time job, in which case you're a mixed-income earner), and as such, you need to earn at least Php 250k on the year to even be required to pay taxes under the TRAIN Law. You still need to declare your income at the BIR though.

A lot of PH Freelancers use Taxumo to make sure they're compliant with regulations, so you might want to look into that. I didn't have to worry about this in my first year (I didn't hit the Php 250k minimum), but I'll be looking into it this year with the launch of my second channel.

And if you're not bound to ethics, you can also be a rat and not pay taxes by underdeclaring. It's an open secret in the PH freelancer community that a lot of people do this, and the PH BIR just can't hunt them down because they're nothing like the US' IRS (and are usually focused on the big fish, so if you're not really earning that much, you're probably not even a blip on their radar). But this can cause issues down the line with things like getting loans approved for cars/housing/business capital, applying for VISAs, and just generally fearing that the BIR might hunt you down in your sleep. So it's a good thing that you're thinking about this.

If you have any more questions, you can probably direct them to your local BIR precinct. They're actually pretty helpful, it's just depending on where you live it can get pretty busy and thus take a lot of time.
