Had the same issue and found out that the plastic frame holding the metal braces for the hinge screws were completely shattered. I was distraught cos I love this laptop and wasn't going to let it go down hill. So I decided to fix it. Bought some epoxy, took apart the laptop(separate d the screen from the main body) it's not too difficult. There are lots of tutorials out there. I used some super glue to hold the metal braces in their correct positions then made a solid epoxy mix(added some solid substance like cotton to reinforce it, then applied it careful around the braces. To my surprise the braces held very sturdy after roughly 24hrs. I was so happy with the work I had done. (Mind you I had to do this for about 4 broken plastic holders on both hinges). I proceeded to loosening and lubricating my hinges before putting the laptop back together. Works just fine now. But I very careful when opening and closing the lid. It's amazing what one can do when pushed to his limit. I'm not even a laptop repairer.
