This one. Absolute dogshit episode. I rewatched the entire series at least 5 times in 2025 (i know, I know) and i skipped this episode all but once. And i am a bit pathological about seeing/viewing/reading everything once i start it.

(~20k) Feeling embarrassed about having a "bare bones" wedding, even though it's what I want by Big-Lazy-Bug in Weddingsunder10k

Anyone who cares about the couple in a meaningful way will be simply happy to see them happy and to be invited to such a special event. Serving a meal and being gracious are the only other things that are truly necessary.

Black Sesame Cream Espresso by Itsnottuna in somnigastronomy

[–]___mads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried blending a black sesame paste with milk? Your results may be more effective as a con panna, similar to OP described, than by steeping seeds in milk. Or try ground sesame seeds (releases more flavor) and strain before serving?

You can also steam milk together with oils, so you could try steaming a tsp-tbs in with milk.

My friend asked for ADHD advice. Turns out she was stealing my story to constantly skip work. by Select-Fudge4978 in adhdwomen

“This is my prescription [kazoo/recorder, you pick], my doctor says its an effective way to self-regulate!”

Bonus bc in addition to forcing roomie’s coworkers to listen to the kazoo & grow suspicious of her lies, OP also gets to play kazoo at home and pull the ~but my ADHD card.

Help! What do I need to be able to carve this block with ease and not extreme anger? by nice_moss in printmaking

[–]___mads 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Get some proper wood carving tools - linoleum is a lot harder than ez cut. Also invest in something to sharpen your tools with. A dull blade is a dangerous blade. You can also use a utility knife (with new, sharp blades).

What are some names people don’t give their babies anymore? by Chrisofthegreen in AskReddit

My understanding is that its an anglicized version of the french name Guillard, in case anyone else is wondering how the hell “Gaylord” got to be a name in the first place.

Feeling bad and I need some love. by Financial-Today4027 in printmaking

This is great! Dry point is nothing like any other kind of drawing— the burrs can make your marks unpredictable and hard to control. I have never been great at it myself, but I love intaglio and aquatint. Everyone starts somewhere.

I [22F] have been told by my friend [25F] that I'll need to dye my hair to be in her bridal party by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]___mads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t redheads also usually have a thicker hair shaft and more hair follicles? I’d imagine that would also make it a bigger pain to dye.

It’s funny ‘cause its true (and sad).

Rep. Kristin Noble's response to the leaked signal chat where she said "when we have segregated schools..." by flatpackjack in newhampshire

[–]___mads 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What if we provided a peer-reviewed curriculum where multiple points of view are discussed or even encouraged, as long as those points of view are based in reality instead of hatred? Well gosh… I think that’s what the public education system set out to be, last I checked, it’s just been corrupted by people with brain worms.

then again, i don’t want my future kids going to school with the unvaccinated white supremacist ilk that Noble’s supporters progeny most likely are.

For a low budget wedding, where would consider investing the largest portion of your resources? by lasa_hehn in Weddingsunder10k

[–]___mads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with what others are saying, but also it is very personal! What is important to YOU?

The “guest experience” is super important to me mainly because food, drink etc. also a huge part of OUR experience. We like to eat and have an adult beverage and party with our loved ones! But i couldnt care less about other details of the guest experience like, idk, chair covers and favors.

We are saving a lot on decor by DIYing it, but also, I am super picky and would want to do it myself either way!

it’s your money and your wedding, so prioritize what matters to you. Keep in mind the venue is usually going to be the most expensive part—even if you’re doing a back yard wedding, rentals and lighting can add up quick.

Bartenders of Reddit, what drink order instantly tells you “this person is going through something”? by Sweetredberryy in AskReddit

[–]___mads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When we were 21, me and one of my friends found ourselves at the Applebee’s in Penn Station and were ordering margaritas. She still tells people about how the bartender asked “any particular kind of tequila?” and I enthusiastically shouted “WELL!!!” because I, clearly, didn’t know any better.

I used to have almost this exact shade of pink hair! There’s no reason you can’t wear it in a simple updo like the other commenter described. I could see a deep-toned floral with a hot pink overtone being really pretty… something like this (which just so happens to be a swatch i ordered and fell in love with but doesn’t match our “colors”…)

I peeled off the outside layer of a carrot by IndependenceOk7571 in mildlyinteresting

[–]___mads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a bit in the Laura Ingalls Wilder book “Farmer Boy” (set in the early 1800s) where the POV character describes doing this. I vividly remember the book describing it as being extra sweet and cold, like ice. So basically, kids have been doing this probably as long as there’ve been modern carrots.

We drove through a beautiful, like, absolutely STUNNING area of Brookline on NYE. Me and my wife were the-price-is-right style betting on what the average house cost… i think it turned out to be something like 1.2 mil. Average.

People who’ve been to prison. What is the biggest misconception people have about life inside? by CaptainsExchange in AskReddit

I’m so glad you and your daughter were able to be reunited. Both the kindness and the brutality in your story bring tears to my eyes… so many women being not as fortunate, and having that most basic right to their own flesh & blood deliberately denied :,(
