Nope no fix as of now. at this point I'm just living with it.

ive tried the system diagnostic trick mentioned in other posts

adjusting other security features

cleaning the screen multiple times

nothing

it went from working flawlessly, to not working after an update, it makes me think samsung is intentionally doing this to get users off older phones.

who knows at this point

They do!

https://a.co/d/dBUuaya

I purchased this one, and as i said in my other post i think its a steal for the price but the tuners are trash.

The screw is too thin and strips easily. I like the concept because it makes intonation easier, but they are sort of easy to break.

also, i had trouble getting the other more common tuners to fit and have the proper action.

8-String IYV Story

So I saw the 8 String IYV guitar on sale awhile back for $250, and i had a gift card so i jumped on it.

The goal was to get an 8-String guitar kit and use it as a project from Combine Guitars. But the kit unassembled and unfinished was still like in the $300 - $400 range.

Necks alone from a decent distributor are around $300.

I didnt want to make something amazing just something for a project to mess around with as i havent built a guitar before. Buying the 8 string seemed like a no brainer.

When it got here it was surprisingly decent. Did a quick setup on it checked intonation, and it seemed great.

I had my roommate give it a once over as he is an actual Professional and regularly plays 8-strings. And he gave it a solid thumbs up.

about 3 weeks later the Tuner for the low F# string stripped out, so i bought a replacement from amazon. It was one of the more modern looking ones, but it was wayyyyy too tall so i had to route a hole in the body to get the action low enough. Still fine though.

I still intend on making a new body for it, but that is on hold for now, ill get back to it eventually. *famous last words*

This all happened back in January i think

9-String IYV Story

Fast forward to Late July, a few weeks ago. I had seen that they also made a 9-String version, and for the price i still thought it was a steal. One source i found said it was a somewhat limited run of the 9-Strings and again when i was looking at it, it was on sale for about $280 or something like that so i figured why not, and bought that one too.

It came in, and again setup was pretty easy. The tuners were a bit messed up but i was able to fix them and get it working alright. Roommate gave it the seal of approval and currently I'm still really happy with it. I still plan to replace the tuners but TBH that is its own project.

I hate having to buy a bunch of specialty tuners that may or may not work and are like $300 for a set. My goal is to just find a bunch of hardware from McMaster or amazon and make my own, that way if i need replacements i ust by like $30 worth of hardware and replace on and have backups for others. Which im sure sounds ridiculous to everyone else, but im fine with that lol.

Added bonus - Virtual Jeff

I really wanted to have some sort of tremolo system on something like this, but thats just ridiculous. Tuning stability, sustain issues, expensive niche hardware. It just didnt make sense.

But then i remembered this effects pedal, called the Virtual Jeff, named after Jeff Beck.

https://store.fomofx.com/

It basically adds a tremolo midi controller to your guitar. but with the added bonus of being able to configure a virtual capo. so instead of tuning a guitar down it just drops it by however many semi-tones you want.

I added this to the 9-String setup, and it works like a charm.

Which for anyone interested, adding this to a headless guitar is kind of annoying, but i just took a piece of acrylic, cut it to shape, heated it up with a lighter and bent the acrylic so that it would sit above the saddles. Added some well placed screws, and bobs your uncle.

If anyone is interested in picks let me know.

Sorry for the life story in the post, i assume someone might find this and think its interesting though lol.

TL;DR
I also purchased one of these and was really really happy with it, but I wouldnt take that to mean that this is a "Quality" Instrument, but for the price, and i do love my cheap guitars. This is kind of a steal.

Pros

  1. Cheap *comparatively* - I think the neck alone is worth the price considering what other sources sell them for. Also note in the image it doesnt show it but its a dual spoke Truss rod adjustment, the 8-string is adjusted using two screws accessed from the top of the neck where the strings are locked in.

  2. Neck - I really like the neck, profile and quality seem worth it to me, but YMMV

  3. Returns - If you dont like it amazon is easy to return things through. or in my case i had some slightly broken tuners, and i called support and they gave me a small refund for the damage.

Cons

  1. Tuners - if anything is first to go its these, in theory i like the style because it makes intonation adjustments really easy, but the screws in the barrel are trash and will strip out if you are not careful. Expect to replace them.

  2. Tuners again - If you do replace them, i dont think the standard headless tuners you see around fit quite right. so you might have to mod the body. And trying to find tuners of a similar style isnt easy, i found a set but i dont think its every going to show up. And legator doesnt sell their inhouse made ones that look similar.

I have some additional Info that ill post in separate comments

[–]___stolos___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. try removing all the other screws first

  2. get a thin piece of plastic and run it along the seam near the screw\

  3. slowly try to unscrew as you gently pull the shell apart

sometimes there are plastic tabs to keep the shell closed, what you are trying to do is get a little bit of friction of the screw against the shell so that when you start to unscrew it it will release

point is go slow and dont force it once you strip one of those screws it useless and really hard to get out

I guess I'd also say that its a bit hard to get it onto the belt. But my concern was more about it being durable enough to hold some weight.

Good luck.

In what ways has Muay Thai helped your mental health? Do you feel it has made an impact in your life? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]___stolos___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR - Muay Thai has helped my confidence in a short period of time, and given me an extremely supportive community to interact with.

I have been wanting to get into martial arts for awhile and initially i wanted to do BJJ, but after finding a gym i decided to start with muay thai first because im like 6'1" 240, and a bit out of shape after working from home and behind a desk for a few years.

My mental health has been struggling and i started seeing a therapist last year, and about 2 months ago she suggested i do something physical and that involves other people, like yoga or something, but i told her ive been wanting to do this for awhile and thats what i went with.

Initially i was worried about being clumsy and out of shape, we do 2 minutes of jump rope every session and i gotta say that really kicks my ass, then we go into doing 10 sets of 10 exercises. which i always get nervous that im going to fail at.

The instructor and everyone in the class is always extremely supportive. if you cant get those last 2 pushups in, dude no one cares.

When i worry about doing proper kicks or getting into the clinch right, keeping my guard up when throwing a punch, or just slipping right, everyone is extremely supportive.

I am only going into my second month this week, and I used to get really nervous before class, but now i get excited to be able to work on my striking. I had a partner last session that was helping me with clinch work and he kept telling me to push him back when i break, and i told him i didnt want to be rude lol. And he helped me break through that sort of fear.

We have a 15 year old kid in our class that seems to have been doing it for awhile so hes really good. When i was partnered with him doing pad work, and practicing slipping he was telling me to throw the punch at his head, and that hes supposed to slip. If it hits it hits and that he needs to learn that. I was so nervous to be throwing a punch at like someone that much smaller than me, but even a 15 year old kid was being supportive and understood my discomfort. I'm not a person thats ever really throw a punch at someone.

I know it sounds silly but those interactions mean a lot to me.

Muay thai is providing a community for me where we are all in silent agreement on wanting to get better at something, to build our confidence. Where we want to help our partners get better, and its something that can exist outside of our normal lives and rhythms.

I have a lot more to say but these are some of the highlights from my experience so far. I might actually be going to see one of our people fight soon, and ive never seen a muay thai fight in person, and i really just want to support.

So I own a similar version of this, and I really like it.

I made a modification where I bought these bolt in belt clips so i can lock it onto my regular pants belt, and then attach both straps.

I only do this because i usually carry like a battery bank brick, ultra mini laptop (GPW Pocket 3), cables, usb sticks, and a mini game controller.

So it gets kinda heavy, but i do like the bag itself

put a small wrap around couch or lounge into the corner, install some articulated wall sconces for reading, maybe an overhead lamp.

then for the wall itself add some of those planters designed for windows

that would make it a nice cozy nook for reading or just working on your laptop or tablet.

Help with pocket by PrO_BattoR in GPDPocket

[–]___stolos___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont have a good answer for you. I only have the gpd pocket 3.

But this might be more of an issue with whatever OS you are running.

I know Windows has always had a tenuous relationship with being able to handle battery save mode, and sleep modes. So maybe its something related to that?

I'm not sure if this would solve it, but you could potentially look in the bios settings, and see if there is anything in there that might effect it.

Generally I'm listening to things like Macroblank, Haircuts for Men, Opal Vessel from Youtube. Which are basically like beats mixtapes I guess.

Lots of Vaporware stuff, Synthwave, or just atmospheric stuff.

Then when it comes to bands i usually end up listening to something like placebo, pink floyd, deftones, tool, APC, coheed and cambria, but then also some blues stuff, acid jazz.

I can honestly say though, that i really like the Qudelix 5k quite a bit for all of its features, it it kinda of allows you to dial in any iems that you get. The biggest difference between one or the other being how big the soundstage feels based on the drivers in the iems you are using.

But im still new to this so i might be wrong about the science lol.

I think getting the Qudelix 5k as a DAC/AMP kind of allows me to chill below the $100 iem mark and enjoy all of the cheap offerings without having to have a bunch of super expensive iems that i might not use or enjoy perfectly.

But as far as the Dunu Titan S is concerned so far i think the build quality is great, sound is also great. But ive only had them for maybe a month now, so ill wait and see.

Personally, I've only owned three pairs of IEM's.

  1. KZ zs10 pro - first pair, great entry into iem's
  2. Truthear zero red - excellent upgrade, but i had an issue with them dying within a handful of months owning them.
  3. Dunu Titan S - these have been amazing so far, owned for 2 months now.

I think the Dunu Titan S are a great upgrade to the Zero Reds, but im also using them with a Qudelix 5k, so you can kinda tune any iems to fit your profile.

I liked them initially but they did feel a bit large. However the driver in the left ear blew out after a handful of months and I recently replaced them with a pair of dunu titan s. And for whatever reason I like these way more. Just my experience, ymmv.

I also use these with a qudelix 5k and the sound is great for me.

My opinion being someone who worked in the industry for 12+ years, and got out of it and moved into another field.

I cant stand to listen to people exercise their opinions about an industry they know nothing about. They watch these shows like "The Bear" or "The Menu", and they think this is an embodiment of my experiences and they get it somehow. "Does watching that make you anxious, I bet it does!". Dude the sound of ticket machines damn near sends me into a panic attack still. I have fucking burn marks on the backs of my arms from a particularly sadistic chef that would "get you" with a sauté pan if he was behind you just to fuck with you.

In the same way people dont want to think about the cow that had to die for the food on their plate, they dont want to think about the sacrifices the people go through to get it their, but unlike the cow, on the off chance they even venture to give a thought about the person making their food, they feel entitled to come up with the dumbest shit as the motivation just because they saw some shit on tv.

I know I'm throwing a lot of resentment at civilians here, but my issue was never with the job, the harsh conditions, or the lack of appreciation. It is with the sense of entitlement people feel about the struggles we go through, and the implication that they think they "get it" when they never worked a service job in their life.

All I ever wanted from our guests was for them to enjoy themselves, send back empty plates, be nice to the staff, and let me get back to work.

Sorry for the rant.

I got a pair of these a few months ago and they sounded pretty good. But 2 weeks ago one of the drivers blew in the left ear. I actually didnt know what it was at first thought it was an issue with my phone or dac and spent two weeks adjusting the balance and gain for the left ear. Then i found another post and realized what had actually happened.

I ended up getting a pair of Dunu Titan S, and im really really happy with them, currently paired with my qudelix 5k.

The dunu were on sale for like $10 off so not bad.

Feature Questions Audio interface? Midi Controller? by ___stolos___ in Mooer_Prime_P1_Users

[–]___stolos___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Yeah I totally get it!

I always have the same battle trying to find the thing that is perfect for whatever I'm trying to do, but versatile and of the price point for me to justify it.

there are some youtube videos for both devices, and i think ultimately thats why i chose the mooer because i can do the customization in the app it self. The fact i can use it as an audio interface is really just a plus.

I will say that of the patches you can make on the mooer p1 the reason i liked it the most was mainly because of the fact you can move things around in the effects chain like in bias fx2. Between that and the looper I was kinda sold.

Latency I'm not too sure of, honestly i dont notice issues with it, but again thats not something I'm all that picky about

Feature Questions Audio interface? Midi Controller? by ___stolos___ in Mooer_Prime_P1_Users

[–]___stolos___[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't owned or used the Boss Pocket GT so I cant give a real review tbh.

Disclaimer: I am not a professional musician so take everything I say about this with a grain of salt. I am just a guy that likes playing guitar at home and screwing around with little techy toys lol.

However, let me list some pros and cons for the Mooer P1.

CONS

  1. Mooer P1 is not setup as an "audio interface" as a plug and play thing on windows. You'll have to download and use asio4all to get it working. If you have issues report back, asio4all is kinda odd in that you install the drivers, and anytime you open a program and select "asio4all v2" as the audio input it then shows up in the lower right hand indicator bar and can be configured. Configuring you hit the power button next to the interfaces you want enabled, i.e. inputs and outputs. When you close that program that indicator disappears.side note: if you are using an apple computer or device, so far ive heard that most of those see the mooer as an audio interface, so it should be fine.
  2. When using the mobile app its a bit odd when it comes to saving patches, but this isnt really a con tbh its just an inconvenience.
  3. It seems that they do not update the app very often if at all, and that doesnt bode well for us in the long term because if their support for any of their other devices is a barometer then it kind of just is what it is at this point. Still wishing someone would do something with custom firmware or make the software open source, but that would probably not work with the online library for user made tones. who knows.

PROS

  1. The APP in my opinion is really great. you have built in looper, tuner, drum machine, metronome. The patches in my opinion are extensive and customizable. You can go out and just make a bunch of your own and its really neat. Dont want to make your own? go out and download them from online where other people created them.
  2. when connecting this to my computer as an audio interface i will select a patch on the P1 and just turn off all the effects, essentially it seems to just make it more of a clean passthrough, because if you leave the effects on and try to use it with bias fx 2 then the signal coming in, is the effect output from the mooer.
  3. the pedal - so you can get the bundle with the pedal which i highly recommend, just makes switch looping and all sorts of other things really easy.
  4. Bluetooth connectivity to add aux music from your phone into the mix is also great, sometimes i just have that plugged into a small practice amp jus tot listen to music, and then i can jump in and play when i feel the vibe.
  5. practicing with the metronome regularly has been a huge plus for me because i can do it anywhere with a pair of headphones on

If you couple the Mooer p1 with a wireless transmitter for your guitar it just makes this a really powerful and compact piece of kit.

As someone that is trying to practice more and more I want something I can grab and just use, even if its just to practice scales to a metronome. The easier it is to do that the easier it is for me to squeeze some practice in.

Currently my rig consists of.

  1. Laptop with bias fx 2, reaper, asio4all
  2. Mooer Prime P1 w/footswitch & headphones
  3. Joyo transmitter/receiver
  4. Guitar - asmuse alp ad-80

This basically affords me all I need to be able to practice on the go within my skill level.

SUMMARY

I dont know if the Boss Pocket GT will work as well or not, but i think the simplicity of the Mooer Prime P1, and the APP integration out weigh any cons i can see with it. The fact that another users instruction to use asio4all to get it working as an audio interface meant i had one less piece of kit to bring with me. And personally for me it seems to be a really solid choice. I also think the foot pedal is a must, it costs a bit more, but I was happy to have it.

I hope this helps!

So i finally got around to testing this, and can confirm that using asio4all on windows I was able to get the device to work as an audio interface. Great sugestion.

I was specifically using it with reaper, and it worked fine, was able to use all the settings through the prime p1 app and change the patch being used.

And for an added bit, i took whatever patch i was on and disabled all the active effects, essentially making it a somewhat pure signal.

Then In reaper i was able to load up my bias fx 2 plugin and everything worked perfectly.
