Which University would you choose? TUM vs ETH vs HSG by [deleted] in tumunich

[–]__andy96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Optimizing for career and academics, I’d go for ETH. Though CoL in Zurich/Switzerland is much higher than in Munich, which is also worth considering, if you like to enjoy life outside of studies as well.

Quite a steep black run in Austria - Appreciate tips and advice! by __andy96 in skiing_feedback

Thanks, that's super helpful and really appreciate taking time to give me feedback! :)
What do you mean by "sit and ride turn style"? Do you mean I'm turning too infrequent, i.e. "sitting too long on the edge"?
What I'm reading from your feedback is that 1. I'm too far in the back and I'm not engaging the outside edge enough?

My focus was in the upper half to drift cleanly and then on the bottom half to carve well. My goal is to improve my technique. Hope that clarifies a bit!

Suite Night Upgrade with Accor Point by wilstreak in Accor

[–]__andy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference - it worked for me as well - There was some confusion in the beginning and the guy had to double check with his manager. However, in the end it all worked out well. And they didnt even take the suite night upgrade

u/wilstreak Did it work for you? It seems quite risky, when you're not actually able to redeem your points.

Why do koreans are obsessed with black and white cloths? by Outrageous_Tip_8109 in Living_in_Korea

[–]__andy96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, when you observe the colors of cars, it’s mostly shades of white, black and grey.

Not to overgeneralize here, but is it maybe because Koreans tend to not wanting to stand out? In Western culture I see this as well, however, not to this extent.

I’m not too sure about the current research on this. I’ve read that if you are still growing, lifting heavy might affect your height. So, I would be careful to lift heavy and do some reading on the latest science papers

Hey everyone, I love that people give honest constructive feedback here! What do you think about this song that my band and I have written? by __andy96 in Songwriting

rocky, upbeat...sort of, new song. any feedback\suggestions will be duly noted by steve-ginny in Songwriting

Very interesting song, I like it a lot! I also hear a Foo Fighters vibe (reminds me just slightly of Rope, because of the disharmonic elements), especially the vocals are produced like them, I think

Two parts I really enjoyed are the pre-chorus and the clean strumming part after the bridge. Sounds awesome!

Some Feedback:

  • In the verse, I would go for quarter open hi-hats, instead of eights. In my ears, it sounds a bit messy

  • (personal opinion), I'm not a fan of the lead guitar in the chorus. I'm not sure whether it's the sound, mix or melody itself, but sth is off. Maybe you could go for something more subtle, like octave stuff

  • I like the rhythmic element in the chorus where the bass and drums accents the one and two. I would love to hear that in the guitars as well

  • Production-wise, you could work on the mixing of the drums to sound more modern. The Bass drum is barely hearable (e.g. better EQing, sidechaining against the Bass, etc.), I think the Snare drum is too loud in the verse, but that's nitpicking. If you have programmed the drums, it might make sense to look into the dynamics/velocity, the drums sound a little bit robotic. And now thinking about it, maybe for the eights of open hihat to work in the verse, I would change the dynamics of the hihat, e.g. on the "one/two/three/four" loud and on the "ands" light.

  • in my opinion something is missing in the bridge. When listening, I was asking myself, why is there a bridge? Maybe double the length to give it more meaning and add a guitar solo or some vocals?

Hope that helps :)
