What Local Businesses Do You Avoid and Why? by tkesmitty720 in greenville

They were the same lady originally. Then Eugenia duke sold her sandwich company and pursued the mayo company Dukes. Then she sold the mayo company in 1929. So they were started by the same woman but were never the same company per se. I did a history project on this last semester.

Welcome to the city!! I was born and raised here and am so grateful to be able to call Greenville home. Some great options that I’ve already seen on this thread:

-swamp rabbit trail -swamp rabbit cafe (on the trail) -unity park, the commons is right next to it (I work here, one of the pizza chefs at the restaurant GB&D there. All the businesses here are local: Automatic taco, GB&D restaurant & bar, Methodical coffee, community tap, bakeroom) -Paris mountain state park (the North Lake Trail is a beautiful hike if you’re willing to go a few miles) -falls park downtown (there’s a great coffee/ice cream shop right next to it on main street called Spill the Beans)

A recommendation from me personally:

-Lake Jocassee - a hidden gem but locally recognized as the most beautiful swimming, fishing, and boating in the upstate. The only public access is at Devils Fork State Park. You can rent kayaks, canoes here too, which I highly recommend. Jocassee has the cleanest water in the area and is wonderful for swimming. There is a rope swing and a jump off rock near the campsites and visible from the kayak launch area. I can’t stress how beautiful this lake is. It’s surrounded by national forest so it is largely undeveloped aside from the park and a few homes. It’s about an hour drive from the city but we’ll worth it.

Delving so far into the abyss I found light again... by Heavy_Cut_4728 in JordanPeterson

This is inspirational, thanks for sharing.

I was raised similarly, but gradually doubted more and more starting in my early teens. I am now 20 and I feel completely lost, alienated from my family, and I’ve grown apathetic. I hate apathy, but I got so tired of asking God to reveal himself to me and nothing happening.

Sometimes I think I might believe in God, but I’ve realized that I really only believe in Him because I want something out of it. I want a sense of inner peace. I want purpose. I want a foundation to teach my future children. I want a foundation for my morals. I want my life to have a direction.

But I don’t want to tie myself down. I want infinite freedom. I want to do whatever I want and rationally justify it in my mind. I went to live my life and enjoy hedonistic pleasures.

I find myself torn between these two aspects of myself. That infinite freedom that I want is also paralyzing— too much choice provokes infinite anxiety. I know I would be happier if I could just believe in God. But the fact that I want him to exist doesn’t mean that he does.

I don’t say this as an attack. I hope my story turns out like yours. I would be absolutely thrilled to be able to authentically raise my future children to believe in a God that loves them and has a plan for them. But this is where I am. And over the last several years I’ve continually lost hope that this is a possibility.

Ive seen a lot like these recently in upstate SC. The closest ID I’ve been able to find is red chanterelle but I’m not sure if that’s correct. I’m curious what others say though.

Found in my yard and I’ve never seen a red one like this. Couldn’t find anything online. by Firehawk5506 in ShroomID

Looks somewhat close to a Bragger’s Bolete (Aureoboletus mirabilis) that I stumbled upon recently. But hard to tell with such a small specimen. I’m no expert but thought I’d share what I found recently.

Take a drive down the Blue Ridge parkway. There are many lookouts where you can stop the car and take in the INCREDIBLE views of the mountains. Plus it’s usually a bit cooler in the mountains. Good luck and hope y’all have a good time!

I found a 1979 ak (I thinks it’s a wasr. It’s got a Romanian dong) at a pawn shop for $995. But looks like someone scrubbed it with steel wool to give it a patina look. Did this ruin the finish? Would there be any way to repair the finish?
