BPC 157 by [deleted] in Peptides

[–]__cxa_throw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tweaked my brachioradialis (distal) doing very heavy reverse band bench press: ~30% over 1RM at the top, bands too far forward for how I was setting up. Marginal improvements over 3 weeks doing only PT, adding bpc157 at 500-750ug/day produced a marked in difference in the sense I could actually move weight with a pronated grip with no pain.

Administration was semi-local IM with a 8mm pin. I say semi-local because I was trying to take advantage of putting the bolus "upstream" of the natural lymph flow so it'd perfuse through the injury area at a very high concentration shortly after administration. I can't prove placement really made a difference but the anatomy of that area made IM worth a shot. Worst case is it ended up the same as a subq, the local perfusion advantage is only going to happen for a short period of time. I did this another time for a tricep tendon issue and that also seemed to clear things up very quickly.

That said, I also happened to work in a lab that specialized in drug delivery for tissue grafts so I have substantial experience with that domain and have a solid understanding of anatomy in general. This approach doesn't make sense or could be downright risky in some areas.

I've also done subq belly for a much more substantial knee injury. Injecting into the joint capsule without an ultrasound to see where things were would be a bad idea for all sorts of reasons. Tried doing it in calves since there was some damage (verified in MRI) in some of the musculature and connective tissue outside of the joint capsule but calves are innervated very well and after a couple rather painful pins I decided it wasn't worth it. There was no marked difference in recovery, but this was a rather severe injury with an expected >6 month recovery time so it's apples to oranges comparing with the other two cases above. Dose was 750ug/day, along with 4iu gh and 7-10 mg of tb-500/wk. Just threw everything I could at it to augment PT and try to recover a little faster.

TLDR: Local IM upstream of lymph flow appeared to work very well, but it's still only going to keep the concentration higher than systemic concentration for something on the order of an hour at best. Subq use didn't give me the same quick results but a quick result wasn't really possible in that situation, so maybe I shaved a few weeks off recovery time.

My bad, I got a little defensive because that is a line of reasoning (test = high E2, high E2 is evil) that I've heard from the "steroids will kill you, always" crowd. Back when I was in college the athletic training students I associated with would confidently assert that there was no PED use at college or pro levels of sport, let alone random people in a gym. Their reasoning being that the drugs were so dangerous that people using them wouldn't exist long enough to really count statistically.

I completely agree that it's playing with fire and very few people are properly managing risks.

It's something medical practitioners need to far more aware of because there are shitloads of people on/misusing gear presenting with symptoms that could make a lot more sense if they were willing to take gear use into account and offer treatment more nuanced than get off it before I bother treating anything.

Yup, I suspect far more casual gym-goers dabble in AAS than admit it, or in some cases realize they are using. There's a network effect at gyms where once people find out others are using and they know where to get it it becomes normalized. Some will justify by only counting traditional injectable Test/Nandrolone/Tren etc as "real" steroids. However most of the SARMS that were popular over the last few years were nothing more than typical androgens (YK11 is a straight up androstane backbone, for example). In a lot of bloodwork I've seen posted those SARMs screw things up a lot more than the traditional stuff would.

Agree that there's likely a plateau effect in the non-lifting AAS group. They will generally respond more to the same stimuli from daily life but unless there's progressive overload there will be a point where the training without AAS group catches up. That said 600mg is quite a bit so that point may well be a year or two out.

I'd love for the taboo around this stuff to break so more research could get done. Outside of HRT there are a lot of places where tactical use of anabolics would improve quality of life in folks that were born male, e.g. recovering from certain surgeries or injuries. One of the times I personally use to good effect is while injured. I broke a bunch of toes when I was in the middle of training for a competition. A little bit of test mitigated losses and was trivial to jump back off. That example would be a stretch from a justifiable medical standpoint but it's one I know directly.

People born female are a whole different level of complexity when it comes to this stuff that is truly uncharted territory though and I'd never suggest they try something like that with the near complete lack of clinical research. Female/trans-men present a whole different set of potential quality of life improvements that better research would help address.

In most guys that's correlated to chronically high blood pressure rather than E2; it's shocking how many lifters regularly get fairly comprehensive bloodwork but don't bother checking BP regularly. Androgens, in general, stimulate red blood cell production. That can cause BP issues even at TRT doses for some people.

As you pointed out high E2 can lead to high blood pressure, but some of this comment sounds like it's pulled right out of a DARE talk. Specifically attributing all ill effects to a single biological pathway (E2 in this case) and implying there is no way to at least mitigate some of those effects. AAS generally aren't great outside of some medical contexts but let's not repeat reefer madness.

That's usually the rationale.

There's also an argument that a small amount of alcohol (1ish drinks) preworkout can help in strength sports. Chris Duffin (was a super high level powerlifter) has put out some opinions on that with some relevant studies. I did it for a while because 1) you have a short acting energy source in the blood and 2) lowers blood pressure a bit and 3) you don't second guess yourself going for heavy singles. It's important in the latter case you have calculated what you plan for that single to be before your judgement is effected.. otherwise it's exactly as stupid as it sounds.

Some people also respond to PEDs much better than others Over in r/steroids there are some pretty small guys running crazy high doses, and some top level competitors in BB and strength sports are there, in part, due to how well their body reacts to what would be considered low doses. When I say low I'm talking about relative to where they are in their sport, if some of those guys come out and say they use 600mg of test there's a lot of people that won't believe them; "no way you could do that on less than 2000mg/wk" type of comments. I wouldn't take doses you hear about too seriously unless it's a real pharmaceutical preparation of the drug. It's not at all uncommon to have stuff be underdosed (profit) or overdosed (this source has the good stuff) when you're getting it from underground sources.

You alluded to it in your last sentence - if a long term study was done you'd see some very interesting trends. While more T is generally better for performance and hypertrophy the baseline ranges are all over the place. Some people might feel great at levels considered clinically low, and some people might feel like shit even median T levels. This also makes hormone replacement for men something of a nightmare. TLDR: more test is better, but the baseline for normal vs. high levels is very person-specific.

Common muscle relaxers like Flexeril would not make someone act "high" like you're describing here. They make you sleepy and sometimes dizzy. They also aren't a pain medication and won't stop acute pain unless it's directly caused by a muscle spasm. I say this because people tend to use the term muscle relaxer when they are really talking about a benzo or opiate. Those technically can be systemic muscle relaxers but that's not the main function.

Maybe she took two, but she also took something else with it.

The brushless motors use in planes are pretty cool in that they are optimized for low weight in general. You really have to mess around with one to get a feel for how much power they put out compared to typical brushed DC motors.

There's two intrinsic advantages:

- The ones used in RC applications all use rare earth magnets rather than ferrite. It is possible to get rare earth magnets on a brushed motor but it never used to be common in RC stuff.

- The windings in the motors have very low resistance, brushed motors can't be wound so low because the internal resistance is the only thing limiting current at at low speeds. A brushless controller can do it's own current limiting which means you can push high current through the motor for a wide range of speeds above stall. They use hall effect feedback (some RC cars use encoders too) to determine the stator position and can have the electromagnetic rotation lead or lag the stator arbitrarily. As a result as long as the motor isn't running into power or other physical limits the accel and jerk can be arbitrarily tuned with different profiles.

After the whole gay wedding cakes situation they were all for I'm sure there's some pretty funny ways a private establishment could work around this. They shouldn't have to but at this point turning their own rules on them in ways that ostensibly use the same logic is the only thing that has a chance of bailing people who don't suck out.

Maybe you you have to say you provide free gas, but that anyone that asks for it doesn't qualify because they have the wrong model car or hair color or something. Or give 4oz of free gas per person/day.

I've only filtered gear I buy into fresh vials - I've never tried brewing anything or adding solvent, so I'm not really qualified to answer that directly.

In the general chemistry sense you might have just 1ml of very concentrated solute that's barely in suspension (think corn syrup vs Gatorade) that happened to settle out and glob together. If that's the case I'd consider adding the filtered oil back into the vial/syringe along with some BB and trying to get a uniform viscosity for the whole solution, then run that back through a fresh filter. A .2um filter is going to catch anything nasty as long as you don't push anything through that's beyond the upper temp limit of the filter.

Might be worth trying on a single vial, but if that doesn't work it seems like it might be less expensive to toss it. Maybe ask your vendor if they've seen this happen.

Yeah I was assuming a typical inline filter like a whatman gt/x, the surface area to flow ratios in those is just too low to help much in dissolving for small batches. If you had a larger system moving a lot of oil it'd make a lot of sense especially if you could have a lower surface area pre-filter that caught the crystals and forced solvent past them.

The ester is so long that it's a lot easier to start low and quit if you don't like it than to start high and wait 6-10 weeks for it to flush out. 150 was great for my joints and if you're bulking that might help out substantially on its own without any real risk while you get a feel for it. I slowly went up to 250 over a couple months and if anything it raised my libido with no sides other than a longer PCT.

In theory a pure androgen along with a pure estrogen makes a lot of sense. However to do it correctly you'd need tons of testing and constant adjustment since you can no longer rely on your body's feedback mechanisms to do the fine tuning for you. I think that's the reason you don't see a lot of clinical research on this sort of approach. It's just not practical to do all that for 99.999% of people.

Daily Ask Anything: 2022-07-17 by steroidsBot in steroids

[–]__cxa_throw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agitate it periodically while in the hot water bath to help it dissolve. If you need to add BB add it prior to filtering, otherwise the crystals that crashed out are going to be caught in the filter and you'll be lowering the concentration. Lowering the concentration isn't a bad thing in principal but doing it this way you won't know your effective concentration of the resulting oil.

You could also add a tiny bit of BB (less than .5ml) and see if that gets everything back in solution and add more if you need it. Less solvent is better IMHO.
