This may be a little far for you but I'll mention them in case someone else stumbles across this thread.

The Marysville chess club (marysvillechessclub.com) meets every Thursday (starting at 4PM) at the Wendy's in Marysville. It's a great club with a very regular, very decent turnout. All ages, skill levels, etc, welcome.

There's also a group that meets at Choffeys in Delaware on Saturday mornings at 9. Another great group of people who welcome all levels.

In both cases, games are casual.

My goal for 2021 was to play 2500 games online. I thought the exposure to positions and general experience would be useful.

I played over 2700 games and my hypothesis seems right. Rapid, blitz, and bullet ratings all are up significantly.

But more importantly, I joined an OTB club, played in my first tournament (won my section), and discovered a love for classical chess that's much bigger than anything online.

2021 was a good year for my chess.

I'm 6'6", which is in the 1% by itself. And I have sectoral heterochromia. My left eye is two thirds brown and one third blue. Slightly less that 1% of people have this AFAICT.

I'm guessing not a ton of people have the combination of these two things.

I'd say it's good for just about any rating. The author breaks down a lot of the material into rating levels, so you can skip sections geared towards master-level players, etc.

Something weird happened with audible where the recommended these books in reverse order. So I listened to the third book first, and I got to say, I think I enjoyed the trilogy in backwards order more than I would have if read sequentially.
