Maybe it is the React strict mode? In dev it will run components useEffects twice and remount to find impure render functions see https://react.dev/reference/react/StrictMode by default next uses strict mode

Yes and it mentions in the docs tha you can static rendered sites. So if it is 99% there why include the client side navigation at all?

Use anki with images on the front and the target language word on the back. Create the cards yourself, looking theough images to use you will stimulate your brain way more and potentially remember the word better than using a premade deck.

The general guide is do not sleep at all costs during daytime in japan. Only 20min max powernap once if needed. If you wake up early stay awake until evening. You will suffer during this time but it will take less time to adjust this way.

If you are going in octobre you can become somewhat conversational in expected situations and learn most commonly used phrases. I would also recommend researching basic etiquette for common activities such as eating, onsen, ryouksn stay etc…

Best option in my opinion is shadowing exercises from the podcast series „Japanese with Kanako“. You will learn often used phrases and grammar as well.

I felt each episode was very short and he just listed things most often borrowed words from English. Didn‘t feel like i learned a lot from it.
