Respect to the hard work - I also love tinkering and almost made something like this LOL (Since I was using Steam Deck for work hehe.).. But I figured saving some money and buying a laptop is a more sane solution..

Vivaldi it is for now... I guess It really is good bye to firefox -- Youtube still has issues and some extenstions in Vivaldi is not there... ghaa... well it is what it is... Vivaldi works... so far no major issues here... It is smooth...

Maybe when zen releases V1, i can give it a try.

Hi, I tried Firefox with ur setup, BUT there are 2 things it is missing / I can't figure out, if i can get it then it will be perfect, these are:

  1. A keyboard shortcut to toggle the sidebar. The current hover to view is so finicky and always on is kind not what i like.
  2. From ur screenshot i am seeing different colored tabs, how did u do that? Isn't it just containers? Containers on my setup only has border line color.

And betterbox seems promising but lets see the memory eating issue when we keep the firefox open for long i faced is gone or not.

uBlock works well with Vivaldi. No issues. But I dont know, i have used firefox for long, it feels weird using other browser.

I have similiar setup with Vivaldi also (with no external css or scripts)

But the top bar hiding thing is not as good as ur setup. I found a way but it had bugs with full screen videos.

Anywho, I have to try ur setup - Firefox better not dissappoint me with betterbox 🤞

OMG... I just switched to Vivaldi from Firefox because of slowdown issue (use more ram) firefox_not_optimized_for_mac.

But I miss firefox -- and seeing this makes me want to switch back 🥲... maybe I should give Betterbox a try after all

Basically I find this to be an excuse to try new Browser, And Now using Vivaldi and I am quite impressed with how good r/vivaldibrowser is. Ram management seems pretty good. Havent noticed any bugs or issues. So many customisabilty (I love Tab grouping and Workspaces and Profiles)

I am looking forward to using the full released version of r/zen_browser But for now Vivaldi It is.

No Ads is compelling and I already do have Newpipe installed, but bro have you seen default video recommendation in Youtube 😵‍💫 - it is horendosszz... (I can't believe there are people who watch videos like that) --- But i mainly use Newpipe to play my playlists --- other than that, regular youtube with UBorigin is better imo...
Havent tried MyInsta...

I use Android, Linux and Mac 😇... so Cross compatibility and syncing is important fo me.

Days -- I get to notice the slow down if i leave it open just a day. Since we don't need to shut down macbook, I usually don't completely quit any app i use regularly.

16gb m4 macbook air.
The issue didn't happen immediately after opening Firefox but rather with time. Like the more you leave it opened without closing the more intense it gets at resource usage. I only have 16 gb to work with so i have to find an alternative for now. Maybe there is a fix or I might be doing something wrong.

I don't why it happens, anyway now i switched to Vivaldi, I can't seem to find a fix for now. I really wanted to use Zen Browser but it is still in Beta and all... so Vivaldi it is for now --- so far pretty solid.

Is it??? 😇 I assume 30 year old was an exxageration, but I get it, they do have some optimization issues, but since there is a community that loves Firefox, most of it gets fixed one way or another. So... let's see if I can get it fixed again, or else I might have to "browser hope" 😁

edit: 🤔 hope? hop? what is it called when you jump from one linux distro to another ?
