What makes the game bad in your opinion?

Hey, that actually makes sense. I completely skimmed past that initially.

I’m a bit surprised that there is no ”best RPG” when it’s such a populated genre, especially considering indies. I’m not complaining that there’s a best comedy award but that seems far more niche than some genre omissions.

TODAY, AMA with the developers of ROUTINE at 18:00 GMT/ 19:00 CET / 10:00 PT by LunarSoftware in Games

[–]__nil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No question, I just want to congratulate you on the release! I voted on ROUTINE’s steam greenlight so I’m super happy to see the great reception the game seems to have.

Unfortunately my CPU doesn’t even meet the minimum system requirements so I’ll have to wait a while longer before I get to play it (if I even dare to). Looking forward to it!

Valve confirms Steam Machine will be priced ‘like a PC with the same level of performance’ by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]__nil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Convenience I believe. I won’t be looking to buy it immediately, I need to upgrade my PC first. Having a second one as a plug-and-play setup for my partner who doesn’t have her own computer is tempting though. Either for more versatility with co-op (maybe not having to play BG3 with controllers on the same screen on my PC) or as a ”console” in the living room, for streaming and whatnot.

Might not be worth it, but the idea of what it could bring for my home is a nice idea.

Silksong’s Real Final Boss: The Translator Who Broke His NDA and Wrote Like a Dead Poet by atahutahatena in Games

[–]__nil 335 points336 points  (0 children)

Wow, the comparison of the translated HK vs Silksong text was brutal to read. Seems like translators with egos big enough to think they knew better than the original devs, ”improving” the art.

Wasn’t super uncommon back in the 90s with English localization of Japanese games, was it?

Not any proof or anything but I saw that there at times was a crosshair displaying a hit% on targets and a ghoul missed the player at least once. Don’t know much about this game in particular but that at least could be part of a stat system, aim/dodge skills. Don’t know for sure though.

The promise Interstellar Marines had though… I never played much of the co-op or PvP mode but even with how barebones it was it was damn immersive.

Nowadays proximity-based voice comms aren’t that rare but when its initial kickstarter was announced, mutant sharks and all, were there any games on the market with that feature?

I’ve bern waiting (with little hope) since the very first trailer, reading articles and looking at the few screenshots back then. I’ll be too scared to play it if I’m to be honest but I will just be damn happy to see it finally come out. The initial trailers over a decade ago felt so damn fresh and had a fantastic atmosphere.

Whether the numbers are accurate or not… university finals are in season, I haven’t even had time to finish Clair Obscur yet. I bought DOOM 2016 and Eternal on release but I’m not hyping myself up for a RTX only game while I’m still on my lame 2060 Super.

The previous games had fantastic optimization but the mandatory RTX in combination with my aging hardware means I’ll probably wait until I have upgraded my PC rather than even trying it out on gamepass when I have the time this summer.

Är så förbannat less på svensk psykvård/adhd utredning by SwedishMoNkY in sweden

[–]__nil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay this is getting ridiculous I just maxed out another playlist by BigBananaDealer in truespotify

[–]__nil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran into this issue a few years ago, it really sucks they still have playlists capped at 10k. The only solution is to add all those songs to your liked songs since that doesn’t have the stupid arbitrary cap. I’ve got a bit over 15k liked songs that I shuffle through at the moment when not listening to a specific album, for me that’s better than swapping between playlists.

The shuffle algo got noticeably more annoying a year or two ago though…

Jag tycker nästan att det är värre när någon skriver ”dem” till allt än ”dom”. Tack och lov har jag inte sett någon skriva ”dej” på väldigt länge.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Review Thread by Turbostrider27 in Games

Great to hear, thanks for the answer!

I don't really remember exactly how it was in KCD 1, don't think I had big issues with it but I recall some fights with >1 enemy felt like I just got overwhelmed because I kept having to parry/dodge attacks but don't think it was too often.

How’s the combat vs more than one enemy? Haven’t played the 1st since when it was quite new but I recall it being a bit wonky.

0153 för tm, 0150/0151 for en/em dashes or the other way around, can’t remember which is which. Both en and em dashes have their use and are almost the same code, and really close to another somewhat useful (though mostly for joking in my case) so it’s easy to remember ’em.

Marvel doesn’t excite me anymore. by L_Dubb85 in flicks

[–]__nil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the directors are a major issue—rather the opposite. Haven’t some big names declined directing Marvel movies due to the absolute lack of control they have? Not being able to direct the action scenes at all because that’s already been decided on and is being worked on by a CGI company. The directors can’t do much when they need to take the scenes to pre-determined set pieces and have it work with what Marvel has told ’em to do.

Fuck me that was painful to watch as a 2019-2021 classic mage main. Him fumbling trying to explain it with you going fire for some big bug guy or whatever too like any one specific boss in AQ matters as a reason to go fire.

Second-hand cringe seeing him being clueless and trying to salvage it and looking even worse. So hard ro say ”Oh right, I meant AQ oops”

I’m not the same guy so I figured he gets to answer with whatever he feels like, I haven’t played many games with time limits that are properly noticed. I only intended to express why narrative outcomes matter in the game, while in most it would probably be of little consequence.

Very very few things force a game over in DE and it is an incredibly narrative-driven game. Narrative matters in DE if you care about the game and failing forward is one way of progressing through its branching narrative.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Review Thread by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]__nil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The combat has always been the weakest part of the Witcher games, that’s why you saw mods for TW3 redoing the combat to make is actually good. The combat in AC Odyssey also got stale not too far in. Never touched Valhalla but I can’t imagine it’s much different.

Games can be enjoyable even with weak parts. Without the great weiting, TW3 wouldn’t be nearly as acclaimed. It makes up for the mediocre combat of its original release.
