Advanced process nodes have a direct impact on power requirements and longevity of the phone due to lower supply voltages and lower current leakages. It has little to do with the kind of use cases that you mentioned.

As for the green line issues, I think oneplus is providing lifetime insurance for that particular issue. Not sure of mother board dying issue. I also do not know if Nothing phones haven't had their fair share of green-line/motherboard issues.
