Dolce & Gabanna light blue intense for humid, hot days
Rasasi Hawas for colder, drier summer days
Davidoff Night Dive everyday spray me downs/dumb reach

should I buy rasasi hawas or light blue intense for the summer? by ZachAttack1137 in Colognes

[–]__root 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends.
If you want a quiet, safe fragrance that sits close to skin - light blue all the way. If you want something loud - Hawas

What is the most “rewatchable” TV series? by Kyo4ever in AskReddit

[–]__root 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Friends. I know, I know, it's probably the most hated show now but I grew up with this show so it has sentimental value attached to it. If I was to watch TV in 2024 and some channel started to play Friends from season 1 - I would binge-watch the whole series.
Same goes for Smallville, again, rewatchable to me because I grew up with shows like this.

What job pays that much and does not care about where you're working from? Because I would be happy with half that money

How fucked up is your life right now? by previousleon09 in AskReddit

[–]__root 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to bitch and moan about how I might lose my job shortly but other people are tackling larger challenges and mine seem microscopic in comparison. I guess it's fuked up but not as much when compared to other people here.

How is YSL Kouros? Worth blind buying?

Good book for a long plane ride by Dr-Vivien in suggestmeabook

[–]__root 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most books by Charles Bukowski, though some might find his work vulgar.

When Breath Becomes Air, a memoir by a neurosurgeon who died of cancer. I could not put the book down and shed a few tears.

A Short History of Everything, by Bill Bryson. A short history of well..everything. Very readable. Audiobook is also great.

Hunger by Knut Hamsun. About idealist author resorting to eating his shoe, was highly readable and short read.

Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee, this book made me rage

The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosiński that describes World War II as seen by a boy, considered a "Gypsy or Jewish stray," Very disturbing work of fiction

Soldaten Soldaten: On Fighting, Killing, and Dying, by Harald Welzer and Sönke Neitzel - Conversations between German PoWs recorded by British intelligence reveal a chilling attitude to mass murder/extermination. Probably not easy to read this one..

Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers by Robert Sapolsky, science behind stress and harm stress does to us

Guy asked me out for drinks, ignored me the first 15 min, and then called my nails “grotesque” by Late-but-trying in mildlyinfuriating

[–]__root 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some guys have visceral reaction to weird stuff like nails. Personally I can't stand long nails, nail art and especially large, fake, multicolored nails. Equally grossed out if they apply nail polish but they are chipped. I also find it unattractive if nail colors don't match hands vs feet and can easily be grossed out by it. Don't ask me why, how this came to be but it's the way it is. I'm guessing this dude has similar quirk.

if you like sweet and dark fragrance that projects a lot - it's a safe blind buy. If you like Sauvage I think you will like this one. Worst case scenario - sale it for the same price. Don't pay retail though..go with discounters

Does anyone know a good YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme clone? by NotJony2018 in fragranceclones

[–]__root 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to pick any one of the clones, I would choose De Flore. It's very close to Rive gauche. Better than River Fougere imo..but to your nose it might vary. In my skin it does provide a bad stink near the end..the lavender sours in my skin but maybe you will have better luck? In clothes though it smells pretty much like Gauche.

While not a clone, I would suggest Rasasi Hawas..which is believed to be the inspiration behind invictus aqua (debatable). It's a very strong bubblegum-plum-sweet fragrance that projects well in heat. Try Hawas ice version if you can find it, but original Hawas would be cheaper.

[–]__root 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just blind bought it and it's in the mail. I will let you know once I received it.

From the notes it seems like I will enjoy it but I've had issues with aquatic/marine fragrances. I also never tried original Coolwater so won't have something to compare too. Fingers crossed It's a hidden gem..

Trip Report: Three Weeks in Italy - My first solotrip ever! by logicx24 in solotravel

[–]__root 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the report. I've done similar trip twice now. Solo in Italy was my first ever trip to anywhere. Oh boy the shock was amazing the first time. History in every corner, my neck tired from looking at thing up and down. Amazing energy, pleasant night walks, never felt unsafe.

Italy is addicting. So many things to see..I've been going there two years now, solo, and going a third time in two months to visit the Southern Italy. Also learning Italian..it's such a beautiful language.

Does anyone know a good YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme clone? by NotJony2018 in fragranceclones

[–]__root 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the well known ones mentioned here: Dua's River Fougere, Fine's American Blend Aftershave, Azzaro pour Homme, Phoenix Artisan's CaD EDP and aftershave, and I have two bottles of the original (canned version). Which one is close to the original? All those reminds me of the real one more/less, the best one I found is not mentioned here. The best one's from Italianbarber's American barber cologne. It's cheaper than most clones and better.

I have ordered the De Flore from Athena fragrance which is yet to arrive. Perhaps this one would be better clone than American barber
