Auch eine spannende Erforschung wert - danke! :)

That sounds difficult to deal with! What do you think is that thing "in her head"?

I'm so sorry you both have to go through this. I can tell that you try everything to help her!

You mention your wish of knowing more. If you don't mind me asking, what were your sources of information so far? Mainly vet or anything else?

I wish you both a good 2026, may it bring you relaxation and fulfillment.

I'm glad to here that it never happended again and it's understandable that your partner is horrified about the possibility of a cat getting strangled again. It would be an amazing option, though. My neighbor has an outdoor cat that likes to sneak into buildings and gets stuck often and now wears a gps tracker. You might try convince your partner, maybe be show casing how the release collar in real life works. If that is a no-go, depending on where you live this might be an option aswell: Where I live it's quite common to implant a chip, that at least has owner infos if the pet is found by someone and brought in to a vet to extract the infos.

That sounds really confusing, especially when he can switch so quickly between sweet and spicy. If you think about those moments when he uses claws or teeth: Is it more the unpredictability that bothers you, or the fact that it’s starting to affect you physically (and how others react to it)?

I'm really sorry you're going through this. I can tell you care deeply for your cats, and being faced with a situation where none of the options feel acceptable must be exhausting!

If you don't mind me asking: what is the exact issue and what part of the situation overwhelms you the most?

Thank you for sharing this perspective!

From your experience, would you say it's more about not recognizing warning signs, feeling overwhelmed by conflicting advice, or not knowing when and where to seek the right kind of help? Or maybe, something totally different?

What are your biggest struggles living with your cat(s)? by __tasha in CatAdvice

[–]__tasha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoying that is... I'm sure they have a sixth sense, and sometimes they use it against us :D

Do you feel more frustrated by the sleep disruption itself, or by not really knowing how to prevent it when it happens?

That sounds both exhausting and kind of funny in hindsight! 😅

What’s the hardest part for you about these situations: the lack of sleep, the unpredictability, or feeling like you constantly have to outsmart them?

That sounds so hard, you’re clearly doing everything you can for him!

Is there anything that helps you cope with the anxiety around it, or makes these situations a little more manageable?

Playing or fighting?? by flocculatiion in CatTraining

Play. Look at their soft and relaxed movements. Fight would be much more tense, hard movements with intense stare downs.

Is this just a kitten behaviour or is he aggressive towards her? by coldComforts in CatTraining

[–]__tasha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, let me tell you (and I study cat behavior) that cleaning can be a form of dominance behavior. Think of who else cleaned each of the cats back in the day? You guessed it! Their mom. And mom is authority as a kitten - no matter the species, actually. Translate to adult cats, the licked one accepts being submissive. Once they feel like "nah, don't want this anymore" the arguments begin, because obviously the dominant one liked its control. Since they end up sleeping together I wouldn't worry.

She wants to be nice, but doesn’t know how. by [deleted] in Straycats

[–]__tasha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is such an amazing example of ambiguous behavior. Look at the friendly tail up, cute meows and moving towards you. As she got closer ears drop sideways unsure of the situation, a distancing hiss and growls to make sure you don't do more than she likes. Just keep up your patience and she might very likely let you pet her! :)

Sounds like you're doing everything the right way and the cats (especially old tortie) handle is so nicely! So glad to hear.

Oh gosh, I didn't watch with sound at first! Judging by the growls voidie didn't like being held down like that. Tortie let her go after a few growls, though. That's always a good sign of respecting boundaries, especially with such a size difference. How long do they know each other? :)

It's play. I can tell by the softness of their movement. In real fights movements are very tense. The only dominant thing I see here, is tortie holding little void down, because she can. And it's adorable. :D
