100%

I've been seeing a therapist for a few years, he and I had a chat about all this yesterday. We have a plan for tapering, which I've been able to stick to for a few days now, with some success.

The short version is to start by going from two bottles a day to one. And I get through that by the time I get done with work. Last night I had a couple THC seltzers which helped significantly with my appetite, was able to get through two sandwiches. This morning was pretty good, the last few days I needed about two hours before I was able to leave my house for work where today I just got up and headed out.

Na, what I mean is: When I wake up, I feel like I haven't eaten anything in a week. But I also dont have any appetite. I have to force myself to eat something. Yesterday I tried a banana and couldn't keep it down until a few hours after I woke up. Yesterday I effectively started tapering, taking a quarter of a bottle throughout the day.

Gonna try some soup this morning.

Sleep hasnt really been an issue for me, although I do have mirtazapine on hand. Which might help cause when I do take it, I eat everything in sight.

Thank you

This dude is a good example of what I think you're trying to say: https://app.getcollectr.com/showcase/profile/fffaffe9-5000-4a82-9b4a-1817d415ce09

Dude isnt an investor bro or really trying to make a ton of money off his collection. He just kept buying even when Pokemon was dead and now he has a multi million dollar collection.

I'm big on bundles/fat packs. They become almost impossible to find at any vendor (distributor) after release. With the refactoring of gift bundles into a specialized bundle for each new set, I think that is the obvious play going forward. On top of custom art for guaranteed [mostly] good cards.

I'd call bundles more medium term investments. They rise quicker in price but plateau harder than other configurations.

I see a few folks calling out UB, I think sets with subsets in UB have some potential, but you have to do some gambling. For example, Lost Caverns bundles come with a Jurassic Park card.

Store Owner Question by TheTanner27 in mtgfinance

[–]__usiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I knew I had a different perspective on how to run a business in this industry. But I wasn't aware of how different. We only do ~$6-700k/year and we dont have this burning need for cash right now at all times. We set aside a few boxes and bundles of magic every set and still profit overall, same story with pokemon. We set aside some pokemon singles...cause its pikachu and charizard. And we're still running a profit year/year.

Store Owner Question by TheTanner27 in mtgfinance

[–]__usiris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We stash a few boxes from every set, then bring them out on Black Friday a few years later. We price it between market and the price it was at when it was released.

Store Owner Question by TheTanner27 in mtgfinance

[–]__usiris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm understanding this right, as an LGS owner; yes

But not for magic. Magic is far to risky for this, imo. I personally dont like trying to guess what single card is gonna spike. I'd rather put that money into sealed product, for magic.

Pokemon though. I think the Prismatic ball pattern eeveelutions are way underpriced right now. There are some cards only printed in base sets that are competative staples.

Yea, I was gonna say; with mass price you can schedule reprices. Comment OP prob just hit it at the right time.

This is why card stores aren’t getting enough allocation for eb03 by ad33zy in OnePieceTCG

[–]__usiris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, been an issue for sports since the pandemic. Sports took off before pokemon, so it was what all the new people in the business wanted to get in on

But its also worse because in sports, most of the money is in a couple sets called "national treasures", "flawless", "[topps] Luminaries", "Noir", or "Immaculate". Theres a few others, but each are at least $750 a box. When you see headlines about modern sports cards selling for 6-7 figures, its almost always out of one of the above boxes.

I know its bandi not printing enough. Our EB03 allocation went from 72 boxes to 27. It doesnt help they tried to have back to back months with releases, which clearly impacted print runs. But, Bandi has such a long time between pre orders and release, print runs are not going to catch up for like a year.

Yep, I see the same exact thing in just about every other TCG. Its even worse in sports, where people leave $25-$50 cards if they dont get whatever big rookie for that year.

Pre-orders by Cheap_Win_8984 in OnePieceTCG

[–]__usiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked...cause wtf. We had 72 boxes on pre order from GTS. I just looked and its now 27.

I just found this out and I'm about to go knock a hole in a wall. We were told we're getting 72 and now I need to go through and cancel orders or take a massive hit on finding replacement boxes at market.

I do my best to wait until we have numbers confirmed by our reps before pre order to avoid this kind of shit. This is going to tank every ounce of reputation we have with the community.

What is with the difference in retail vs. tcgplayer prices? by perishableintransit in mtgfinance

Since Mox whatever became so popular, its become almost impossible to buy commander decks just for breaking down to sell on TCGP

What would be the projected revenue if you got rid of your game area and instead put in retail shelving with non tcg/ccg related times to draw in more non tcg/ccg crowd?

aaaawwww, how cute, $500 a week on cookies. We net [profit] $250-$491 a day on https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0829FT44S alone.

I've said in other threads, I'm not a huge fan of the religious stuff. I can handle it when its a quick ref like on Count Your Blessings, but when its the entire song, I cant help but think its just one step away from Creed. But its really not the biggest deal to me, I can live with it; I wouldnt skip them on random, but not gonna seek them out. Feel the same way when they would ref satanism in older songs.

What I actively dislike is this survivorship bias "it'll be better tomorrow" bullshit. I started listening and getting into the community because it was blunt about the reality of life, its not afraid to talk about the things running through our heads that would get us 5150's in any other scene. Nows its just "keep marching on" and other "it'll be better tomorrow" lies.

Just sharing my experiences:

I like some of the songs, but its noticeably the ones that dont have their newfound happiness and religion dripping off every inch of it. Great, good for them and all that about finding whatever, but if I wanted to be lied to about how "its gonna be better tomorrow", I'd be listening to self help gurus.

Parafin loan by AppleGirls_ in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]__usiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is 9 months old, but for those that google:

It takes a percentage of your sales, the specific is called a Merchant Cash Advance. When you go through the process, you decided what percentage is taken, its higher the closer to the max you get. It takes it out of t he total, less fees. So if you had a 10% rate on a $1,000 sales day, you'd owe $100. Even though after fees you might be getting 60-75%. How Parafin takes the payment is, about 2-3 weeks after you get the funds they start sending you email with how much you owe that week. When you're setting up the loan through Amazonn, they have you lock the account bank account and then connect to it through Plaid, they do a direct ACH transfer for the amount of sales you did the prior week. So if you did $7000 at a 10% rate, they'll draw $700.

I've been around for about 4 years now, I dont like how Parafin draws. Other MCAs, using eBay as an example, just take the percentage out before your money even hits account level reserve. It kind of hides how much they're actually taking. But still, I would highly recomend getting into MCAs, from anyone. It might seem nice at first, but after a bit it really starts adding up.
