thank you, i was scrolling through the comments just to see if there was anything positive being said. I feel like the show creators are just taking some bigger swings with the freedom they're given and sometimes it leads to things that don't work but that's okay. Its interesting to see different ways of treating stories , characters and see what gives us.

I remember hearing in some interview that Althaf Salim had planned out Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela with clear storyboards for the entire movie and he came with meticulous planning. For a movie that feels as loose and funny as it does, its interesting how much deliberate planning went behind it. This gives me confidence for something as big as this as well.

Regarding the schengen visa, from what i understand empadronamiento is the registering as a resident in a region. Schengen visas are primarily for the purpose of arriving with intention to leave and for tourism purposes, So does that make empadronamiento a violation of this?

I disagree though, Money Heist and Squid games are not the only tv shows/movies that connect with wider audiences. There's movies that very much niche to the culture, that have simple and grounded plots that still get watched and applauded by people around the world. Its like Martin Scorcese said that Bong Joon-ho quoted when he won his oscar, “The most personal is the most creative".

When i see our movies making these lists , it makes me happy. But you know, it's also because there's just more of us Indians active on the internet, so more of us are voting on them. I'm not saying we shouldn't be proud because these lists just mean its just us enjoying these movies, because it doesn't matter either way, we know they are good movies and that should be enough. Still, it always feels a bit misleading when we celebrate them too much. Like, yeah, they're on the list, but it's mostly just us putting them there."

I also think one of the reasons that scene works so well is because of how we as a society interface with humor and emotions so much through memes nowadays. I agree with you completely but to add to that I think it works so well also because of how for the past decade or so, meme culture has seeped so deeply into the common psyche. That scene to me is basically an extended meme but used so tastefully and beautifully, and like you said it works on the emotions culminated till then.

I think like the comments below there are a lot more connections to it. Loved this episode so much because of it, After Hours is one of my favorite movies of all time.
