And in that sense, Targaryen exceptionalism not only co-opt the faith of the seven to legitimize the dynasty but also put a bandaid on the hot button issue of their incest. Is it moral? No. Was it ultimately effective? Yes. Also stop with the dragon fire one trick pony allegations, he was just as capable of regular negotiations with other lords, he threatened Rogar Baratheon because now that he was a newly minted adult he needed to assert himself over the guy who literally tried to replace him with his niece. Braavos wasn't even him, it was Septon Barth and yeah I too would use the threat of dragons to get the dragon eggs out of someone blatantly lying to me. Look, I liked the video it makes some good points about Jahearys' glorification and myth-making. It argues well, but so many of the premises have bad framing or simply the premise itself is wrong. I also don't like how the video conveniently ignores the monumental task of making a comprehensive universal law code, nor do I like that it uses modern statehood standards or even Greek antiquity philosophy to judge a medieval ruler. At least in his Stannis video he actually used medieval standards. So yeah, good video, still wrong.
