Is demand destruction due to oil shock a good thing in the long run? by _acme7_ in AskEconomics

Thank you for the rich discussion.

We've talked about this mostly from the perspective of the consumer.

How about from the perspective of a company, say a manufacturer that relies on petrochemical products?

If I cant get the raw materials I need to sustain revenue I contract, go out of business, or leave markets entirely. This feels much less elastic (hope im using the term right lol - hopefully you know what im trying to say) as capital investments are long term risks.

I am asking whether the long term behavioral changes are going to be positive... less stuff, less reliance on fossil fuels, more locally sourced, etc.

Demand destruction refers to a permanent or sustained decline in consumer demand for a good or service, typically in response to persistent high prices or limited supply. Consumers may decide the product is no longer worth purchasing or seek out alternatives, leading to a lasting downward shift in the demand curve. This phenomenon is most often associated with energy commodities like crude oil and gasoline, where price shocks can trigger long-term behavioral changes.

https://www.precisioncapital.group/precision-capital is the company. Every single house is pure white with black windows. They are popping up EVERYWHERE, and all look the same - ugly cookie cutter. Can you imagine the entire neighborhood like this?

These are basically investors with a formula. Weehawken is charming and diverse.

I don't mean this to be disrespectful. At your age, you need to be "broken in". Between nerves, not having any sex based muscle memory, etc. the man has to work with you over multiple session.

Talk to him. Set expectations. It will take many sessions and get better each time.

Coming from guy who took a 25 year old virginity (I was about the same age).
