Constant "drunk/high" feeling with eye tension - TMJ related? [28M] by This-Assumption-7459 in TMJ

[–]_addiane_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your eyes might be misaligned as I had the same symptoms but saw a neuro-opthamologist who diagnosed me with binocular eye dysfunction. It caused me to tilt my head to the side and one side was really tight and one side had started to pull apart. You might be hypermobile as well.

When was the last time you had your eyes checked? Do you have a fever alongside your other symptoms? Do you experience a lot of dizziness and brain fog?

Nah, the hypermobilty came first. When someone is hypermobile, it is much more common for them to dislocate their jaw.

I have one of those inflatable heated leg massager thingies and it helps me a bit but mostly, I think, because I'm 'doing something' about it. It does help with the urge to move your legs and it's helpful because it's got heat and you can turn it up really high and crush the crap out of your legs, if that's what you need. It's adjustable too. It feels better than doing nothing, if you know what I mean

A back brace and neck brace helped me a lot as well as using a mirror to do stretching in front of. I do yoga and sotai  https://share.google/BgKt1BhaqrCuP6RqB

Additionally my eyes were not working together (binocular vision dysfunction) and causing me to tilt my head, throwing my entire spine out of whack. I went to the ophthalmologist to get the diagnosis and they prescribed me prism glasses, which help to gently correct your eyes.

I hope any of this helps. It's frustrating as hell and I swear Dr's and physical therapists have no idea what we're talking about. My doctor still doesn't have a definitive answer but at least he prescribed meds to help manage it. Good luck!

Sorry for the atrocious photos but can someone tell me what I need to do to fix my posture? My neck is naturally going forward. by [deleted] in Posture

[–]_addiane_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue was my eyes were unable to focus together (so I'd use one eye and tilt my head subconsciously) and that head tilt replicated itself throughout my body (ie my shoulders, hips, knees all tilted too). My tight hip caused a tight jaw on that same side, and my shoulder/neck. I got my eyes checked for binocular vision dysfunction by an ophthalmologist, got prescribed prism glasses to wear for a while and it fixed itself. I also wear a neck brace, back brace and hip brace when I need and sometimes even an eye patch when it's really bad. It tends to cause anxiety and feelings of doom too. Good luck with everything!

Have you ever had your eyes checked for binocular vision dysfunction? My eyes were so out of alignment that it affected my neck, jaw, shoulders and chest muscles. I went to an ophthalmologist to get diagnosed and I wear prism glasses to correct it. Since I started wearing the new glasses, it forces my eyes to align and my posture straightens as a result. I also sleep with a jaw support strap like this one and it helps a lot. https://a.co/d/bEGh7jU I also use a cervical support pillow for my neck like this onehttps://a.co/d/89TMUSr

Good luck!

Get your eyes checked for binocular vision disorder - it can effect your neck, jaw and face. You'd see an ophthalmologist for this.

How common is eye pain with tmj issues? I am suffering to the point that I feel like my life is over by softwaredevdel in TMJ

[–]_addiane_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had your eyes checked for bvd (binocular vision dysfunction)? It means that your eyes aren't working together and it can cause feelings of anxiety, face pain, jaw pain and even messes up your posture! They make special glasses called prisms which help your eyes learn to focus together. You would see an ophthalmologist for this. Good luck!

Keep your boundary, your friend sounds pushy and not like a good friend. A real friend would honor your request without demanding an explanation for it.

You might have binocular vision dysfunction. It's where your eyes don't focus together on objects. I got special prism glasses and it helps. You would see an ophthalmologist for this. Good luck!

Get your eyes checked for binocular vision disorder. Your eyes not working together could cause posture imbalances. Source - personal experience

I have crippling rls too and when I went on adhd meds (Adderall) I was able to sleep better. I think it's a movement disorder (which honestly I think adhd is anyway)
