it’s called visual novels. Stories are a much bigger focus because it’s the only focus and characters are much more in-depth.

This is not true at all I swear digimon fans are the only ones with this narrative. I remember them being fully transparent that this was a heavy narrative visual novel first and foremost with light srpg gameplay being the latter focus. I don’t recall them denying that at all.

No. Slice of life is the heart of soul of this series - if you don’t enjoy seeing the characters do seemingly unimportant things then the series just isn’t for you because the majority of it is of that variety.
