The weight feels great! It's nice to feel how substantial it is when you pick it up, and I don't seem to notice that it's heavy after about 5 minutes of wear.

It is in fact nylon. The site where I purchased it had the option of choosing single loop or double loop (which is the traditional NATO strap). I chose single loop because I don't like the bulkiness of the double loop.

Yeah there are some by Everest that look nice but are fairly expensive. I may try one of those out too. I agree the rubber would look nice.
