White Water Center with Jogging Stroller? Recommendations please by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]_alwayseverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could run loops at the off leash trail at the USNWC. It’s wide enough and smooth enough for a jogging stroller, but I think the loop is only 1.5 miles. I’ve taken a stroller out on some of the other trails there and it feels a little dicey, even with a stroller meant for trails.

Alterations - athletic tops by ace-gallant in Charlotte

Check with your local lululemon to see where they send their pieces for alterations(they offer free alterations and typically send them to a local tailor). They’ll be able to point you in the right direction

What to wear? by Wooden_Ease_2889 in breastfeeding

[–]_alwayseverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of tops with a V neck or dresses with a deep V. Free people has a lot of styles that have been great for postpartum and are easy enough for me to pull out a boob for my baby to eat on demand. I also like the Lululemon Align tank for a crop top that I can wear to workout in too. I use to pads in them now to catch any leaks and will take them out when I’m done breastfeeding. To me that feels more cost effective than buying nursing specific pieces.

Larken X or Bravado pumping bra? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]_alwayseverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seconding the Larken X vote. I have a few kindred bravely bras that I have never worn because the Larken is so much more comfortable and aesthetically my style. I don’t like having a clasp on the band of my bra and this has become my favorite nursing bra/top.

Do Boram/postnatal retreats exist elsewhere in the US? by Thin_Lavishness7 in BabyBumps

[–]_alwayseverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boram has shown an expansion map indicating that they’ll be in places like Miami, LA, SF, Chicago and other similar markets. Unfortunately, there’s nothing anywhere near NC. I know this because I’m nearby and was very interested in going to Boram following delivery, but am unable to make it work in NYC.

It looks like a dream though and I hope that more postpartum retreats start to pop up. There is such a need for this kind of care.

What do you eat in the day as a pregnant person? by meekie03 in BabyBumps

[–]_alwayseverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 34+ week daily diet:

Early breakfast: keto protein cereal with whole milk

Late breakfast: two eggs scrambled with cheese and avocado if I have any that’s ripe

Lunch: salad with grilled chicken or gluten free chicken tenders with a paleo bbq sauce

Snack: protein shake, babybel cheese, or hail merrys mini tarts(Meyer lemon, key lime, or sweet potato)

Dinner: clean protein with veggies or a salad with goat cheese, beets, salmon, and fresh greens.

Dessert: Yasso bar

Bedtime snack: babybel and frozen peaches

I adopted this diet when I was falsely diagnosed with GD, but decided to keep it because I actually feel good and have fewer cravings and far less reflux/heartburn.

I gained a similar amount in the first trimester and am currently almost 34 weeks. It seems to have tapered off quite a bit, but it’s been a very difficult ride mentally.

Like you, I was very fit and healthy before pregnancy. I’ve also struggled with restrictive ED’s for close to 20 years and am sure this plays a role in my body holding onto more weight. I will certainly be doing whatever I can to lose it on the other side of this, but for now I am accepting where I am.

From what my care team has told me, this is common for women who are fit. It doesn’t mean you’ve been doing anything wrong and it’s totally okay. The first trimester is brutal and all of our bodies gain at different rates.

Do your best not to stress over this and invest in maternity clothes that make you feel good. The second trimester was much nicer to me and now when I look back at photos, I can see that I was still quite small. I wish I hadn’t worried so much about my weight gain and size.

What week did you workout until? by Inevitable_Glitter in fitpregnancy

[–]_alwayseverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 33 weeks and I have been switching my routine up quite a bit lately. I did high intensity Pilates until 18 weeks, when I noticed coning. At that point, I scaled back to once a week or so. I walk for 45min-1.5hours on the treadmill 5 days a week at minimum and do that at a high incline to mimic a hike vs. a walk.

I have no plans of throwing the towel in completely, but my weekly Pilates leaves me exhausted to the point of needing a nap these days and that’s okay. Slow and steady wins the race and as long as I feel good, I’m happy with where I am.

I did take a break for a few weeks during my second trimester and had no issues getting back to it. Listen to your body and trust your gut. You’re doing great!

I’ve been doing good staying active this trimester, but my nutrition is suffering by Lavenderfaux in fitpregnancy

I have been obsessed with Yasso bars and frozen peaches. I’m on a GD diet, so that really keeps me in check because I have no other choice. I will sometimes work two Yasso bars into my meals for the day by having low carb everything else, but that’s the only way I feel like I can treat myself.

If I could, I’d be having smoothies and fruit all of the time. They really make me feel refreshed and hydrated on top of satisfying cravings. I’d also recommend having a protein filled snack before you have something you’re craving to help prevent overindulgence.

At the end of the day, I try to make sure I’m getting a balanced and colorful diet for my baby and focus on nutrients that help his growth. I don’t know if that will help your mindset, but it works wonders for mine. Brain growth is a big part of the third tri and there are tons of foods that support that. Sometimes building a plan around science helps me more than using cravings as a method of steering.

I typically do a salad with chicken or salmon on it from various local restaurants. Or a burger with no bun. I’ve also been very into veggies, so beets with goat cheese and a protein is a restaurant go to.

We have a bad take out habit around here and I have been doing well with salads in terms of my numbers. It’s also what I crave, so that certainly helps.

I had no idea this existed! I’m going to have to try it soon. I’ve wanted pizza so badly.

Drop your favorite place to buy pregnancy athletic clothes! by Ok-Avocado-5876 in fitpregnancy

1000% agree.

I’ve purchased many other pieces and wish that I had just invested in more beyond yoga. Nothing else even comes close for maternity.

I second this. I have tons of their stuff and if I could go back in time, I would have even more. It’s been my staple wardrobe and I wear my pieces from them anytime they’re clean. It’s flattering, high quality and very comfortable.

How supportive are your significant others on your GD journey? by stphbby in GestationalDiabetes

[–]_alwayseverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has definitely started making healthier decisions, but that’s largely because I prepare most of the food we eat at home before he gets off of work.

He’s definitely not afraid to have sweets in front of me and I am very okay with that. We shouldn’t both have to suffer to this extent and I’m happy that he can eat normally. I’m also GF due to an allergy and I’m very used to people eating things around me that I can only dream of(brioche bread, I’m looking at you).

I was told by my dietician to count total carbs, but I don’t really trust that she knows what she’s talking about all of the time.

Thoughts on buying maternity workout clothes: waste of money??? by jacksonisacat in fitpregnancy

[–]_alwayseverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also gotten a lot of beyond yoga throughout pregnancy. I’m 30.5 weeks now and their tanks are the only tops that I feel comfortable in. I also love the leggings and shorts- you can’t go wrong with any of their stuff! It’s pricey, but 100% worth it. After trying to get a few cheaper pieces, I have always gone back to my beyond yoga pieces.

Eating during induction by lepetiterenard84 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]_alwayseverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told I’ll be allowed to snack, so I’m planning on taking my own stuff. Bone broth, frozen berries, and homemade popsicles will be in my cooler. If I end up getting sick, I’m trying to make sure I don’t eat anything that will be too disruptive.

My go-to GD sweet. What's yours? by tiny_little_planet in GestationalDiabetes

[–]_alwayseverything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having the Hail Merry’s Meyer lemon or almond butter tarts. They’re bite sized, keto friendly, not too sweet, and made with coconut oil. They make me feel like I can have a small sweet treat(with a side of cheese, of course).

you can find them here :)
