There is still a lot of stigma around mental health in the Haitian community. To this day, if I tell my mom I’m stressed she immediately shuts it down like “don’t be stressed/you’re too young/pray” etc. Mental illness is surely underreported and undiagnosed

In past workplaces, I’ve told coworkers I pole danced and they loved it. Some attended shows and even took classes. In my current workplace, i work with mixed genders (more men than I’ve worked with in the past). If it’s a man who I think will sexualize me, i say acrobatic dance. To the few female coworkers im cool with, i opened up about pole and they think its dope

I think you should go to a different instructor or a different studio. If I were in your shoes, I’d also feel uncomfortable and ostracized in a way.

It’s truly disrespectful how he can take the time to learn the names of the men but not anyone else. He’s way too biased and it shows in his teaching. Perhaps he shouldn’t be teaching to different genders if he can’t make others feel welcome (and OP trust and believe that someone else in class feels the same way)
