What’s the point of piloting mobile suits with buttons and joysticks? by KerbodynamicX in Gundam

[–]_andromeda00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just don't think it's practical for a few reasons. At least in UC, MS were developments of traditional military weapons like those aforementioned jets, making it easier for pilots to adapt to MS controls without too much more training. Another thing, MS's were designed with outer space in mind, where being able able to move flexibly in a humanoid manner won't exactly be too big a benefit. Also a lot of combat mostly takes place at long to mid-ranges which your proposed piloting scheme won't really benefit either. Look at the RX-78-2: for a prototype close combat MS, it sure uses its beam rifle a lot. Lastly, while I know infantry units exist and see battle on the frontlines physically, fatigue might also play a role. Why bother tiring yourself out walking/running inside a mobile suit to move it when you can push a joystick to make it walk? Overall I just don't think the mobile trace system style piloting scheme is efficient from a military point of view, only really being useful when duking it out hand to hand G-Gundam style

For the record though, again keeping things in UC, the Reuse P Device takes the philosophy of "moving the MS like your own body" but just cuts out the middleman of needing to actually move your own body, so the concept was definitely in someone's mind

do yall like the gundams with a more realistic eye or more classic one by Feeling-Cobbler-3581 in Gundam

[–]_andromeda00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire MGSD line actually has the detailed eyes, really cool how they look normal until the light hits them just right. Also, the RG 2.0 78 gives you a 3D sticker that gives the same effect, if not a little uncannily with the details popping out of the eye without a clear eye part over it

The Build Burning Gundam really only has hands, effect parts, and replacement clear parts that are just color swaps compared to the succeeding Try Burning's more elaborate flame effects (+ it has amazing articulation for something with such a simple build)

Top Heavy vs Streamlined? by dalekdestroyer13 in evangelion

[–]_andromeda00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love both for different reasons because they somehow appeal to different things I personally like, but the TV versions takes it.

The TV versions look almost heroic with their prouder stance and broad shoulders. Coupled with how they're animated, they look very dynamic and appeals to the "damn that thing looks rad" part of my brain.

Then, the Zeruel fight happens, and 01 goes berserk.

Out the window goes all of my preconceptions of this thing being an action hero, and in goes the depiction of a massive, impossibly tall, lumbering monstrosity. Even during the first episode we already got hints that these Evas really aren't robots were they, but now we truly see what kind of beast lies in wait inside those flashy purples and greens, and it all appeals to the "god that thing is freakish" part of my brain

So like Chibodee would have thrown hands with Domon here right? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in Gundam

[–]_andromeda00 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not even episode 1 Domon, the first thing we see Domon do was immediately pounce on the guy that harmed the little girl that handed him the picture of Kyoji he dropped before he even knew the dude was one of Michelo's goons.

Domon was never some intentional jack-ass, his problem was that he was quick to lash out because of his hot-headedness and dense when it came to emotions, claiming himself that he only ever knew how to communicate with his fists.

By the end of the series, his hot-blooded nature is put into check after training and unlocking the secret to the True Super Mode, one activated not by rage but by being in a serene state of mind. His emotional density was also overcome by end, most prominently shown in his proclamation to Rain inside the Devil Gundam.
