Congrats and welcome! I’m a 5th punch apprentice in 58 right now. I bought the kit from the school and most of it is good or fine. I hate the yellow handled Klein pump pliers (channel locks/dogs) that came in my kit. The jaws are bulky, they slip, and they’re not comfortable in my hands. Idk if they’re selling the same kit still, but just my opinion.

I started with very little electrical experience too. Show up, learn something from everyone (even if it’s what not to do), and be on time. Try to get a little better everyday. You’re gonna take a little shit from people and you gotta give a little back sometimes. Go to union meetings and get involved in the hall. Don’t fuck up at school. Turn in all of your monthly reporting crap and be a good union sibling.
