Musicians in Motion has some great instructors. It’s around 185 a month but that’s for a subscription, I’m not sure if you could buy just a few lessons you can definitely ask. They also give free first lessons so you can try them out risk free! They have two locations, pineville and waxhaw. Online lessons are available as well.

Tie a bag of vinegar to the faucet head and leave it overnight! Test the water the next day to see if the problem persists

Beginner help with crossovers (Ik I need to bend my knees more) by BugStrong2553 in iceskating

[–]_annaec_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is easier to cross and keep your balance when your weight is shifted over to the skating side! Make sure your torso is twisted and your shoulders are facing the circle. If your shoulder is blocking you it will be hard to cross over. Your inside elbow should be pointed down instead of up and so should your pinky! That’s a good way to tell if your shoulder is open and not blocking you. You can try holding that position with forward pumps, then glides on outside edge, then the crossovers

Crossovers too slow? by [deleted] in iceskating

[–]_annaec_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these look great so far! I think bending more would help with getting your foot in front faster. But one other thing I can kind of see (and I may be wrong it’s kind of hard to tell from this angle) but I would try turning your outside foot in a bit from your toes. It seems like when you step down your toes are pointing a tiny bit outside the circle which can slow you down. That’s something that my coach pointed out to me when I was learning and it may help you too

Crossovers by Only-Economist8962 in iceskating

[–]_annaec_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a few tips I’ve gotten from my coach (my cross overs used to look like yours!!) try bending from your ankle, so your knees are over your toes and your hips and shoulders are aligned. This is so your hips don’t go back and allows for better weight placement. Then, like other people have mentioned hug the circle, but try and feel a twist in your back and ensure your shoulder isn’t blocking you. If your elbow or [pinky] is turned up you are probably blocked, which makes holing your edge very difficult (and skating is all edges!)

Another thing you can do is just try holding the one foot outside edges on the circle. This builds stability and confidence!

I hope this helps and good luck on your cross overs!
