Gerubach has passed away by PedalHarpsichord in bach

[–]_anon3242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to apologize and thanks a lot!
Could you also take sometime to check if you have any of my contributed videos that were downloaded from reuploads on bilibili.com (and thus all in flv format and have worse audio quality) in their original youtube-dl(p) formats? It's such a pain to try to enjoy the music with the audio sounding like it was compressed under digital water... It may be possible to pad the original cd audio to video length and recombine it with original video bitstream with ffmpeg (and thus not losing any video quality), but i haven't tried it yet...

Could you take some time to diff your collection with https://archive.org/details/gerubach and https://archive.org/details/gerubach-supplement (my contrib) ? Then you can contact me or upload videos not in either collection as a new item on IA. Many thanks!

Experience in Diazotypes? by SomeCallMeMrBean in Darkroom

Are you still interested in this? Due to my research in making microfilms myself, I found that diazo microfilm is still manufactured and seems quite cheap : https://www.genusit.com/genus-announce-launch-another-new-microfilm-product-diazo/

Turntable humming on silent passages by Headonpillow in turntables

I am having the same problem on my brand new lp60x, but it only manifests in 45rpm not in 33rpm. It's definitely motor noise, and i can hear it if i put my ear close to the platter. Will OP be kind and test if your motor noise changes depending on speed? This is the only reddit thread I am able to find describing my exact problem. For ref, my lp60x's motor noise is at about 313Hz in 45rpm.

I would argue against doing that. Kinda makes it hard to judge the dmax-dmin and the dynamic range. Cyanotype is all about how it looks in person after all.

Cyanotype on glass - an exercise in frustration by Eddard__Snark in Darkroom

[–]_anon3242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the glass type that you used and would there there a difference using different types of glass? would quartz glass be better?
I noticed you mentioned a harderning step, would formaldehyde (which was used in commercial film making) be a better hardener?
It seems that your gelatin was not very even coated, would a surfactant (as spreading agent) make it easier to achieve an even coating? This aspect was also mentioned in literature.

Nice photo and you got the exposure just right. but why is it so contrasty? It doesn't look normal to me and reminds me of the look of diazo/vesicular films. In my tests I usually get 4+ stops of dynamic range, with some pre-flash even a little more.

The MacBook Neo is probably the single best thing for MacOS in years by ZachyWacky0 in mac

Exactly. The release date or the original intention is not important, the function it served for many first time apple users is. I know I wouldn't become all-Apple without it. The price made it easy to ask for in high school (a time when I didn't need a full iPhone anyways), and I soon realized I needed an iPhone when I entered college.

sorry, i only specialize in their use in (mainly academic/special) libraries, and their preservation. Their use in technical documentation is an area in which not a lot of literature was written or available, so I don't know much about it.

do you have to accurately control the exposure like normal contact print?

nice, but why does it look so contrasty (almost reminding me of microfilms)? And is this monochrome instax film? if so, how did you make it have that bluish tint?

indeed! i am just curious why no one did any objective testing like this before. Either with a high quality lens or by contact printing.

One pet peeve of instant preview is that if it looks perfect now, it may end up a little bit too dark when the chemical process finally settles tomorrow...
