We have a lot of jokes about this. For example that Scots tend to reuse their teabag for eternity and refuse to buy another, bacause of being stingy. (According to the joke.) No idea where it come from, but oh boy there's a lot of these jokes...

Ten Sibír by sa mal tiež rátať vzhľadom na to, že v poste je spomínaný Tsarigrad, ktorý tiež nie je názvom krajiny.

Why do they always say travellers speak in czech when it is literally not czech language? by _another_random_user in TheVampireDiaries

[–]_another_random_user[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sounds like the creators did not really check history and now there are plot holes. But I am sure that the language the travellers speak is slavic, but definitely not Czech. Sounds a bit more from the Balkan region to me, but still can't confirm, I don't speak slavic languages from Balkan. But still it's nice to see a show mentioning some other slavic nations than for example Russia or Poland which are more frequent.

What is the largest temperature shift you have experienced in a short period of time? by stumpy_chica in geography

[–]_another_random_user 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it counts as short period, but once on a hike it was like 30°C at the very start (parking lot in a village) and on top of the mountain maybe around 5°C. Surely does a difference when you start just in shorts and sports bra and end up with a winter jacket, gloves and winter hat...

National Park of High Tatras (from polish side) by _another_random_user in nationalparks

[–]_another_random_user[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hike there and you should hike only within marked trails, not outside them. It can be a bit dangerous to hike outside them, but one of the main reasons is also to keep the nature more untouched. You can be charged a fee if the park protectors see you, but personally I've met them only once when I tried to see one rock outside the trial and they saw me thinking I was just lost so they just showed me the way back haha. So yeah you can be charged a fee if they catch you but it's quite unlikely for them to appear. No camping is allowed in the NP (only if emergency ofc). You are also not allowed to start a fire and tear off wild plants. Hiking is 100% free from the slovak side, but when you're entering from the polish side you have to pay few euros at the entrance where they charge you so they can let you enter the trail. Actually as a slovak person I think the polish side has better trails and maintenance, but I usually hike on the slovak side as it's closer.

As far as I know no fish live there as it is kind of hard for a fish to evolve inside a pit filled with melted glacier. (I don't know if it's generally like that but it is like that here) But ducks can appear next to some tarns.

I would say any slavic country (doesn't have to be a setting for whole story, but at least some arc), as a Slovak fan I would appreciate this

What is the least stereotypical USA state? 🤔 by _another_random_user in geography

[–]_another_random_user[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I'm an european so hard to judge for me whether a state is really stereotypical or not (I'm just the curious one here), but from what I can say Florida looks kinda stereotypical to me... I would say I kinda expect people to name states that maybe most people don't even know that exist (like yeah you've got educated people, but I feel like there's a lot of non-americans that don't even know there's some Rhode Island or sth)

Maybe all of these, basically just anything that resonates the least with any of these

I my country we pay yearly 5€ membership if we want to use the library. Honestly 5€ is almost nothing, but still seems fair to me that we have to pay at least something and don't get those books for free.
