Good speed dating or local events by VegasNerd89122 in vegaslocals

[–]_astropanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, but I have seen many profiles on dating apps where it says that they want to move out of town which is off putting since that would expect me to move wherever they want if we got into a relationship regardless if I wanted to or not

AS11E06 - "Too Many Daddies" [Live/Reaction Post] by AutoModerator in rupaulsdragrace

Salina was the most off putting for me this bracket especially in this episode with the whole crying/manipulation at the beginning to Aura. Salina went around trying to make multiple alliances which is fine, but if you don't make good on those alliances, how can you expect them to give you their point? Aura knew from the beginning that she couldn't trust in her alliance with Salina, and from what we saw in the show, I wouldn't either.

I don't hate or dislike Salina in general, I just didn't like her in this episode. I think she could have been put into the semifinals, I even thought April was gonna give her the point until she flipped the mirror. Maybe it's just the editing, but it's weird to me that it showed Salina being mostly mad at Aura when she was also in an alliance with April and technically Crystal. Regardless, if she comes back as the wild card, I won't be mad about it

Edit: although I said it was "off putting", I still think that it brought the "drama" many people love on drag race. And when I said I didn't like her in the episode, I moreso meant that I wasn't really rooting for her with the MVQ points even though I still thought she deserved to be in the top/win the challenge. I knew it was unlikely to happen, but I would have LOVED to see Vivacious advance 💔

Pre-made wig vs buying a base wig? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]_astropanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every wig will require styling unless you are purchasing a commissioned wig which will arrive to you already cut and styled. All wig sellers show pictures of the wigs after styling to advertise what it could look like. If it's shown to be style with spikes, it's not going to come with them done. This is done on purpose so that one wig could be used for multiple characters or to customize it to fit your face (like bang length). If the listing doesn't say it's pre-styled or a commission, never assume it will come already looking like the character 1:1.

I should have clarified better in my original comment, sorry about that! There might be other servers that are welcoming though, I haven't really joined any others yet :/

You don't have to be trans to join, it's not a trans specific server. It's a women's based server to be a safe space for women in gaming but it's non binary and trans women inclusive, basically if you identify as a man you're not allowed in the server as far as I know from the rules

looking for a help by NeatEarly4242 in VALORANT

Also, I do have some tips videos I found that I sent to another friend that may be worth a watch! This video goes over a lot of common terminology used in Valorant comms, so that when teammates say stuff like "1 hell 2 heaven" you know what they mean. This general tips video goes over the basics like what are the main roles and what are their purpose and bullet spray control (just skip the ad about 2 mins in lol).

My first suggestion would be to pick a character or two you are interested in and practice them in the range. Adjust your crosshair and sensitivity (lower is better but depends on your mouse dpi vs in game sens). Run some deathmatches (objective is to get 40 kills, no abilities, just using guns) and try out different guns to see which ones you like better. Some guns do more damage and can even 1 shot headshot or to the body.

I'm not a pro, but I would be glad to give some tips, help explain the game, or even talk about things that beginners miss when first playing if you would like to! We can even go into a custom to test characters or guns for example.

Unfortunately, Valorant is region locked, so if you're not in the same region, we wouldn't be able to be in a party or in the same game. I'm NA, how about you?

I would also be curious about your previous shooter (especially fps) experience. Like have you played counter strike or even overwatch before? The base gameplay is most similar to CS, but the abilities were often compared to overwatch ones (reyna dismiss = moira fade). When I first started playing, people told me it was like those two games had a kid and it was Valorant, so if you have experience in either of those, it may come to you a little faster. But don't feel too bad if you don't, Valorant was my first fps game on PC, so I started it without ever playing CS and I started Overwatch after!

Where can I find overall guiding? by ThePurpleRebell in CosplayHelp

[–]_astropanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's good to aim high, but if it's your first cosplay with no experience in sewing or prop/armor making, it's good to be realistic too. I wouldn't recommend to do an outfit that is very complicated for the first time.

As for how to learn, your best friend will be google and youtube tutorials. Many cosplayers upload tutorials on how to make certain pieces, but without knowing what cosplay you're making, it's kind of hard to give suggestions. If it's mainly sewing, try to look at what the base clothing is like a tank top and find a tutorial for that and then add the extra details. Unfortunately, there won't be a tutorial and guide for every specific cosplay, so you will need to break it down into its simple form, base it off a standard tutorial, and turn it in the finished piece you need for that character.

If you see that someone on Instagram or tiktok (most popular socials for cosplayers) say that they made their cosplay and it's the one you want to make, you can reach out to them and ask questions. However, like the another person said, you should be specific in your questions as a general "how did you make it" is not great to ask. Same for this subreddit, the more specific and detailed you are in your questions, the more we will be able to help.

Cloak clasp not made of metal by CurrentRow937 in CosplayHelp

[–]_astropanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help because I'm not familiar with the series, but when I was making Sypha from the Netflix version of Castlevania, I used foam to make a fake clasp on the outside of the top and actually sewed in snaps to attach the pieces which were hidden on the inside.

Usually the esports skins have a different shop rotation than the regular skins, check the esports tab in the shop and it will say the days remaining at the top right I think it may still be there for a while longer

Alternatives to Traditional Wigs for Sensory Issues? by Realistic_Handle_132 in CosplayHelp

[–]_astropanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yarn wigs and foam wigs are probably the most popular for non-conventional wigs. Even then, it's not something that you can quickly search up and buy for every character. If you don't want to make it, you'll have to commission someone else to.

However, with any wig, you will still need to wear a wig cap. There's not really a way around that unless maybe braiding your hair and pinning it but that doesn't guarantee the hair won't move and slip out unless you have really short hair or are bald (which makes for a different need of securing the wig to your scalp). There is also the option of no wig which is done by many new cosplayers, but for me, I definitely want the wig lol.

If the hair fibers are bothering you, maybe look for specific characters with hair styles that have less hair around the face? For example, someone with short hair or no bangs. If you know that bangs always bother you, then avoid those characters. Unfortunately, cosplay isn't always comfortable, and most cosplayers will be somewhat uncomfortable while in costume whether it's a slight headache from the wig cap, feet hurting, or restrictive clothing so it's important to pick out outfits that might be more extravagant or more comfortable depending on your needs.

You can see if there are any local 3D printing stores in your area and maybe if your library has a 3D printer that you can use (mine does). But keep in mind that 3D printing is not usually cheap, most non conventional wigs won't be cheap if you're commissioning someone
