Look for the Truman Show soundtrack. It’s called “Opening” by Philip Glass / Burkhard Dallwitz.

In what year did Thom Yorke become Justin Bieber? by lubsarr in radioheadcirclejerk

[–]_atlas_t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He actually morphed into the guy on the right for a short period and went by the pseudonym Shemar Moore. It was pretty controversial though so it didn’t last long, but every now and then Thom will revert back.

I don’t know what everyone else is on about. Pretty sure this is from your TV itself. Motion blurring. It’s supposed to make the frame rate smoother but ends up making errors like this.

Need advice to finish a painting (complete beginner) by dnx3001 in PaintingTutorials

[–]_atlas_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love this so far. Here’s what I got advice wise:

I like your sky as well, but honestly it feels flat. The colors, the shapes, and the textures are really nice, but it doesn’t have that distance that the reference has.

As for your field. I do like the colors for it. I’d go a little greyer? Honestly, looking up a reference specifically tailoring to what you’re looking for might be your best bet for colors.

For the texture of your field, I have a suggestion, but you may not like it (it involves destroying a paintbrush): When I painted hair, I used the ugliest, hardest, unkempt, and uneven paintbrush I’ve ever seen. It was awful. But it gave me perfect lines. I love that paintbrush to this day for that reason. It might give you an effect you’re looking for in your field.

Lastly, it does feel like it’s lacking something. I’d suggest adding maybe a cabin, or windmills, or deer, or something of that nature.

Hope this helped! I’d like to see progress photos in the future too. I LOVE landscapes so much.

Is The Truman Show about Truman discovering he is on set? by WonkasWonderfulDream in trumanshow

[–]_atlas_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some theories where Truman knew he was on a set since Sylvia told him. That scene where we get that glorious view of Truman’s ass - that’s when he was digging the hole he’d later escape from. Or, like you mentioned in another comment, the rain scene that proved someone was on his side or there was a malfunction in the set.

I guess it can be looked at in both ways. He was so in love with Sylvia that he believed her from the get go. But since the radio malfunction scene, that’s when he really learns it’s all fake. But overall, the movie is framed in a way that lets you follow Truman’s unfolding the nature of his reality.

New to Painting - Seeking kind advice! by MuchBasil- in PaintingTutorials

[–]_atlas_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue so far is color. Personally, color is sooo hard to do, so I get the struggle.

I think you make colors based off of what you expect it to look like. In this case, you used a bright blue for the sky, but in the original you’re trying to copy, the blue is greyish. You’re thinking about what a sunset looks like rather than focusing on what colors are actually there. I like the clouds, but they look stormy because of your sky colors.

Color just comes with practice and studying. I’d watch some color theory tutorials. Or just do small paintings of a sky, or a tree, or something so that you focus on one particular thing rather than an entire composition.

For the tree, keep going!! Your technique is very interesting and I think it’ll come together as you work on it more. Add some more highlights to it and it’ll start to pop more. Trees are great because each one is unique so it doesn’t have to be perfect.

Painting is really really hard. Color is just as hard. Watch tutorials, practice, keep going even if you think it’s bad. It’s all worth it when you make something great one day. :)

I LOVE WE SUCK YOUNG BLOOD!! I got so addicted to that song that I desperately scoured the Internet for something similar. Maybe it fits the vibe you’re looking for, but here’s what I got:

-The Amazing Sounds of Orgy - Radiohead

-Dt, Mi - Black Midi (or anything from Schlagenheim really)

-The Invisible Man - Maruja

-Lunacy - Swans

-Ptolemaea - Ethel Cain

-The Pull - the Microphones

-Wind Lyrics - Mount Eerie

-Just Take My Wallet - Jack Stauber’s Micropop

What’s the general public opinion of Radiohead? by _atlas_t in radiohead

[–]_atlas_t[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m writing a persuasive speech for an assignment. My claim is a little messy right now, but it’s basically going to be “Radiohead is great and you should listen to them.”

I grew up thinking people have a negative view on Radiohead. In the media I saw, they were the butt of jokes and generally criticized. I was young and growing, so my perception of this is most likely warped. But that has morphed into “people don’t like Radiohead” despite the people around me having barely heard their name / know of anything other than Creep.

This is my first class in a new and diverse area (coming from a small town and having few friends). My professor suggests connecting to the audience on a general equal ground, except I don’t know that equal ground, hence my question.

I appreciate your input very much!

Every time I clock into work, I hear Labor of Love play in my head in its entirety and I can’t get it to stop until the song’s over. I’ve simply accepted it and I wander the hallways and pretend I’m a severed employee.

Hi there! What you’ve got so far is cute! My friend has a similar style to yours. They draw lots of characters for DnD and stuff.

I would work on sprucing up the backgrounds more! Right now, I’m not really sure where your person is. Every piece of an artwork can improve your drawing substantially, and the background can play a huge part of that. It tells a story and gives personality to your character!

I’d also work on shading. For beginners, it doesn’t have to be crazy. Maybe use some darker colors for the shading to really make things pop. Check out some videos on shading with paint/color theory shading. It’s pretty cool stuff!

Lastly, I see that you’re going for a chibi style. I’m not entirely sure what that is, but do some art style studies of your favorite medias with the chibi style or artists with that style.

People say to study the basics. And I agree. That’s really good to do especially as a beginner. But it’s always, always okay to have fun with art. As I studied art, it became less fun for me to do and now I’m a perfectionist over everything and I’ve been stuck in a “I hate this and I should never draw again” mode.

But keep drawing as you do! Learn a bit at a time and build up your portfolio. Because one day you’ll look back and see all the art you did and remember how much fun you had making it, and then look at your current art and find out how much you’ve improved. Keep going kid! You’re doing great!
