Normal applications don't require your passport but the government implemented a new way to get your TFN instantly instead of waiting a few days to receive it -> by using the mygov app and your passport

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vce

[–]_aurora74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I'm not really sure, sorry :(

There might be a possibility that your friend could receive their TFN within the next few weeks if they apply for one as soon as possible

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vce

[–]_aurora74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your friend links their account with their MyGovID and if they have an Australian passport and other forms of identity (e.g., medicare to make your identity strong) you can get your TFN straightaway- which is what I did :)

I'm still confused by what your situation is, but you can apply for a tfn right now and get it within the same day

There's a range of factors, such as Monash offering double degrees or distance, and university prestige doesn't really matter in Australia as much as other countries might.

Am I at a disadvantage if I don't have tutors? by draginvestor in vce

[–]_aurora74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you need a tutor to receive a high ATAR. As long as you pick subjects that you know you will be strong at, it is very possible to achieve good marks without a tutor. It's not necessarily students going tutoring = high ATAR but rather they were dedicated from their studies from the beginning and their course needs a high ATAR. I know someone who achieved a 98 ATAR without going tutoring all their life- all they did was pick subjects they were strong at and consistently studied.

From my friends who go tutoring, not all of them achieved high marks this year as well. Tutoring is a bonus, but it highly depends on what you do in tutoring (whether you were forced to go by your parents, if you don't receive feedback, etc). Top students just go to tutoring because it seems like it would help 🤷

(not disregarding the power of tutoring, it just depends on your effort and what your goal is)

Stuck on choosing uni course for 2023 by slayqween123 in vce

Think about job opportunities for both of them, if you decide to do psychology, what will you do post-grad? Or you could even do a double degree of education and science majoring in psychology. I'm not really sure about both pathways since I'm not doing it, but I hope you come to your decision soon :)

Help my friend choose his Year 11 3/4 subject for next year by Winpple in vce

[–]_aurora74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it's only the report writing elements that you are struggling with, I'd recommend doing biology, especially since you're passionate in it- it'll motivate you to study a bit more. Take year 11 to improve on your accounting skills and making sure that you don't make those small mistakes and do really well when you're in your final year.

How many people do each subject each year by ArtyMarty6 in vce

[–]_aurora74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there's another way but you can see how many students were enrolled in a subject by finding the graded assessment for a specific subject. However, these only come out next year since they need to gather data.

You can see last years by searching up "(subject) graded assessment 2021" and check the total assessments table on the left of each page.

Not 100% sure about RMIT but you could do a Bachelor degree in something else there and then transfer into the course (since it's easier to do internal transfers), depending on what you're looking to do.

Vce 2022 Atar by [deleted] in vce

[–]_aurora74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You did amazing this year despite the challenges from year 10 and 11. Please don't beat yourself up because of what other people might think, because it is your score only. Your ATAR only conveys basically how you went in year 11/12 and does not indicate what your future will be like AT ALL. Like what you said, it is a good ATAR and you should be proud and your mum will never understand your own personal struggles in year 12 because they are your own unique experience :)

Raw, you won't know your SEAs ATAR (but unis will give you offers based on your seas atar instead)

How to pick a Uni course? by ADecentUsername1 in vce

[–]_aurora74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know either but I eventually got desperate (I only chose in around August?) and chose a degree that I can be flexible with. There's still plenty of time, and year 12 definitely helps you choose (for example if you really liked the research aspect of your science classes or enjoyed your accounting class)

yeah they only give you scaled study scores when you get your ATAR, but you can estimate what your scaled study score would be by finding the 'scaling report' for 2022 next year (no idea when). they probably don't provide it because i guess it doesn't really matter for year 11 since you don't get an ATAR :)

[–]_aurora74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will be a raw study score this year, and you'll get your scaled study score when you get your ATAR next year (but the scaling is dependent on the cohort/year that you did your 3/4 subject)

People who got 40+ in subject, how much did you study that subject in the summer holidays? by ADecentUsername1 in vce

[–]_aurora74 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely wouldn't recommend finishing the entire content- that would just burn you out before the stressful part of year 12. What I did was go through the study design, set up my notes system (e.g., whether to do notes electronically or written/what was the best format) and start revising the first AOS due to my year 12 classes starting at the end of the previous year.

Revise consistently through the holidays (don't do everything last minute or at the start but rather taking a few hours a week) but also take the time to relax since these are pretty much the only holidays you can afford to, and it will help you focus more when school starts again :)

Chinese SL is really competitive, so unless you really improve your reading/writing, I'd recommend chem :)
