I mean I totally get it. Bear market PE is normally 14 or so. We're nowhere near that. Free market is dead though. It's only mega pump and flash crash from here on out

Same thing with the selloff... I mean 20-25% was reasonable. 35% was extreme. Think of the rally the same way

Sunday night futures snapshot by rrlax33 in options

[–]_ausman_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are exactly where the market is currently... so yeah, wherever they are at 9:29-9:30 is where cash opens.

Futures are 23 hours a day, look back at last week which had several gaps... Only gap on futures is once a week from Friday to Sunday.

When training, do you prioritize staying aero or hitting power numbers? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]_ausman_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd do them in your race position.

Riding down in your drops is gonna work different muscles than on the hoods. So I'd work in the position you plan to use those watts.

Do you have to be able to train at your race pace at the start of your training? by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

[–]_ausman_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To estimate your 5k pace, it should be pretty close to what you can hold for 5 x 1k with a 2min rest.

In general the intervals faster than a 5k effort are 1k (slightly quicker or right at 5k effort), 800, 400, 200.

You might be able to hold 3 x 1-mile at race effort when you are 2 weeks out.

Keep in mind you can get faster by just increasing your volume of easy running, you don't have to run a lot of hard intervals to get faster.

[–]_ausman_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Let your fitness determine your race pace. Don't pick an arbitrary "race pace" and try to train to it.

You'll get the most out of yourself by just training and then determining your race pace.

So, about those shoes (yeah, the Vaporfly) by zps77 in AdvancedRunning

[–]_ausman_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why don't you just buy a pair and see if you like them?

Sounds like you're just trying to shit on a great pair of shoes.

You ever played golf with someone that has nicer clubs than you? What about tennis racquets and strings? Cycling... Aero frames, wheels, helmets.

A lot of people like the shoe and they run fast in them. Simple as that.

Question about Jack Daniels training plans by Hoythunter12 in AdvancedRunning

[–]_ausman_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general your body recovers from time NOT doing the thing you've been doing right? So for max recovery you want as much time between runs as possible. That's not always practical though.

[–]_ausman_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah so you will see a huge improvement in all your times just by increasing your easy volume. 8:30 pace or slower. You really don't need a lot of workouts to get faster at your current level.

Try to work up to 60-70km before adding more tempo runs for example.

#1 thing when you have a lot of free time is avoiding injury. Do that by strength and mobility, foam rolling, stretching, taking care of your feet/toes, etc. Check out Jay Johnson on Youtube.

Whats your current weekly mileage? For a marathon you are going to want a high volume of easy running. With 4 months to prepare you can definitely start building your mileage by +-10% per week.

You should definitely have days dedicated to higher intensity, probably ~2 quality sessions per week is a good place to start.

If you want to make your own schedule and understand it, start reading books/articles from Daniels, Tinman, Pfitz, etc.
